Fine for rain not hiking

I have owned this jacket for 4 years or so. The seams on the pockets wore out and pulled apart making holes. Thanks to the return policy, I was able to get another. The jacket is a fine affordable Gortex shell. However, every time I use it, it is wet inside (the old one or replacement). Doesn't matter if I vent or don't vent, anytime I am moderately active in it, it traps moisture or isn't waterproof to rain coming in. I am not a super sweaty guy. It blocks the wind well and I like the features (pockets, hood, zippers, lightweight) so I use it, but I will be looking for a 3 layer more expensive jacket to replace it.

Not waterproof

I was fishing in moderate rain for about two hours and got absolutely soaked. Water passed through almost every inch of the jacket. Completely worthless piece of rain gear.

Mens Foray II Jacket

Great light jacket that wicks water off effortlessly. Also a great shell in colder weather over some base layers. The poncho zippers all the way up the torso of the jacket is a nice feature for ventilation. The chest pocket and size pockets are a great size and located well to maintain comfort. Just the jacket I was looking for.

Great waterproofing and Awesome Zippers

The full length side zippers are the best part of this jacket. Makes breathability insane and bending over while zipped comfy.

Not waterproof , odd fit

Looked ok but fit weird - tight on arms, hood hangs over eyes - but I figured I would deal with it. Then I wore it in the rain ... and got quickly soaked. Not waterproof at all!

this is THE raincoat. The only one you'll need.

I brought this jacket to Ireland for a 2 week cycle tour of the Atlantic Coast. It dumped on me. I stayed dry. Big pit zips for ventilation. Big pockets for holding my stuff. Awesome jacket - HIGHLY recommend!

Perfect, exactly what I was hoping for

Great fit, lightweight and Gore-Tex is the perfect combo for rain country, and love the colors.

Thanks OR, great raingear!

Fits great, stands up to rain in the PNW. It's relatively quiet. It looks like it'll hold up to some abuse, but time will tell how durable the waterproofing is.

Awesome Side Vent

As a Gore-Tex jacket, you are getting all the benefits to a waterproof but breathable jacket. The key difference from other Gore-Tex jackets is its side vent zipper. It opens all the way down whereas others only open around the armpits. This makes it a must jacket for those that tend to heat up fast but still need a windbreaker to moderate temperature loss. Solid and popular jacket that should be a no-brainer for avid hikers that sweat a lot.

This is my second jacket and I will not buy any other brand!

I rely on this jacket for rainy days because it keeps me dry. The Gore-Tex technology makes it particularly effective in wet weather. It's not only functional but also comfortable and stylish. Definitely worth the investment.
