    Don't run parched.

You're loathe to carry hydration with you on a run, but when you're running a summer ultra, even you can admit that your stubborn minimalism needs to take a trip to the back burner. For seriously long runs from humid Northeast forests to scorched desert dirt, put on the Nathan VaporKrar to make sure you stay safely hydrated through your most challenging days.

Depending on the length of the run you're prepping for, you can choose to fill the included 12 oz soft flasks with water, as well as add your own 1.5-liter hydration bladder for extra reassurance. The design focuses heavily on maintaining a breathable, shirt-like fit that won't slosh and bounce for hours on end, so don't feel like you need to skimp on water to preserve your sanity. The soft flasks also come with extended straw tubes so you can sip without removing them from their pockets Though you'll have friends waiting with more exciting junk food at aid stations in your race, having a store of easy-to-access energy gels is crucial when you're training, and the VaporKrar's wealth of pockets give you plenty of room to stash as much as you need.

    • Train for your next ultra with this minimal hydration vest
    • Includes 2 12oz soft flasks with straws for hands-free sipping
    • Back panel accommodates separately sold 1.5 L bladder
    • Stretchy, breathable fabric cut to stay close to the body
    • Adjustable sternum straps provide a customizable fit
    • Multiple stash pockets fit up to an iPhone 6 as well as fuel

Training pack for Western States 100

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Email me for all your running pack questions -

After a 100+ miles of use, this pack has proven to be a very nice, light-weight running pack suitable for racing or other runs where minimal gear is needed. If you’re debating between two sizes, I would recommend sizing up (I am 6’ 165 and went with the Large). The bottle design is great, and makes drinking on the go much easier than the traditional chest-mounted bottle systems, and even when running hard, bottle-bounce is relatively minimal. The pockets on the shoulders and on the front make stashing food/electrolytes very easy, although the pockets on the shoulders don’t work well for a phone, which they appear to have been designed for. There is also a nice rear pocket along the bottom that makes stashing small items, such as gloves, without removing the pack easy. The downsides: The elastic straps that secure the bottle hoses are showing signs of wear, and the bottles seem to be of inferior quality compared to other hydrapak manufactured bottles (they still work, but the caps don’t fit as well).

Changed my mind about Hydration Vests

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I never expected to love it as much as I do. Coming from a hot and humid environment like Florida, I've never been a big fan of training with any extra gear on. This vest has changed that. It is very lightweight and sits nice and high on your shoulders. When loaded up with nutrition and hydration, the vest is very well balanced. What really sets it apart though is how functional the storage pockets are. Each one is well thought out and serves a purpose.

This vest is great for a variety of different runners and a great addition to the gear closet!

    Handheld Bottles Steal the Show!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First impression with the vest was good. Light, stretchy, good fit, overall impressed. I have run with previous Nathan vests as well as an S-Lab for the last few years while doing development for Ragnar Relay Series races and always loved the vest and handheld combo much more than the bladder. Never really liked that sloshing feeling on the back. So when I got this vest I was pumped with the design. Then I saw the handhelds and mind was blown! I think we can all agree trying to put a soft flask back into a vest when it is half empty is not fun. So to my surprise when I saw I could actually take a drink from this soft flask without ever having to take it out of the vest? Heaven! Love it!

And for those that do want the bladder it can hold one, has a magnetic clip for the front of the chest strap to keep it close and in an easy reach.

Seriously changer! Get you one now before they sell out.
