    Shelter for the whole gang.

A shade and rain canopy may be on your gear list for car camping trips, but it can be a bit cumbersome to pack into the backcountry. Not only is the Rendezvous 200 Wing Shelter roomy and protective, but it's also reasonably light so it can easily be packed into remote backcountry camps. The largest of MSR's Wing Shelters, this canopy offers 200 square feet of space and will accommodate up to twelve people.

The Rendezvous boasts a lightweight and simple design that consists of just two poles and eight guy-out lines. And if additional headroom is required, the Rendezvous can be pitched with two more additional poles (sold separately) on both sides of the shelter.

    Not Sure...

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Seems flexible and durable enough. Disappointed with performance in any winds 10 mph+. I guess it would depend partly on your specific setup. We used 6 tall MSR poles and with any wind the tarp became a giant sail. I noticed later in the online MSR demonstration video that it was perfectly calm. Probably not a coincidence.

We use ours at the gulf coast beaches all the time. It has held up remarkably well. Setting it up in 15 to 20 mph winds is difficult but possible for two people. Once set up, it stays up all day. Using only two poles is key in higher winds as the force tends to push it down instead of lifting the wing. We use extra wide stakes and set up in the wet sand. They hold fast this way. Dry sand would require deadman anchors.

    Great protection--rain or shine.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this last year right when the new design came out. I've used it as a base camp at trail races and on multi-day river trips. Using oars, tress, etc. will give you more height. Have not experienced a true high wind situation yet, but so far it appears bomber.

    Great protection--rain or shine.
