Excellent cookware and longevity
I've been using this cookset for over 20 years. We added a couple of plates and bowls, but the design is perfect. Using the lid as both a lid and a frying pan, we have never been unable to cook a perfect meal in field. It cleans up easily, and being stainless steel, if we burn in the pans, it is easily cleaned up.

Excellent and reliable forever pot set
Classic & simple pot set perfect for car camping. I’ve had a set of these pots for close to 20 years and recently just purchased a second set for my new camper. They tuck perfectly into my camp kitchen box & can handle cooking almost everything. The lid doubles as a fry pan, though it’s better for things like a quick sauté with lots of oil rather than pancakes (it’s hard to flip & easy to accidentally burn the cakes). These pots clean up easily inside & out, in case you cook over a fire with them. The pot grip is reliable and sturdy, which is great when draining a full pot of pasta’

Lifetime Durability
One of the first things that I bought when I got into backpacking in the 1990s was an Alpine cookset. That pot set has travelled all over the country with me from backcounty canoeing in the Boundary Waters to sea kayaking in the Aleutian Islands. I lost my XPD heat exchanger in the Bering Sea, scorched and warped the pot lid using it as a heat diffuser, and otherwise dented blackened and abused this cookset for nearly thirty years before losing it to theft. I'm back for another. I do use lighter Titan pots for backpacking these days, but if you're looking for a cookset that will never wear out and you don't mind a touch more weight, the Alpine is the way to go. It's perfect for car camping, canoe camping, sea kayaking and any other outdoor activity where you're not looking to shave weight down to the last gram.

8 years, still going strong
I have been using this pot set for eight years! I got it as a wedding gift and absolutely love it. I boil water in it mostly and it is very fast on a whisperlite. Cleanup is easy when making Mac n cheese for my toddler too!

This is a good, durable
This is a good, durable set of pans for those times when shaving ounces is not the highest priority.

Nice sturdy cook set
Nice kit, I was happy with its performance on a 2 night backpacking trip. The stainless steel feels very durable. I’m expecting I will use this set for many years to come.

Great Pot Set
Love this set! Great quality/durability at a relatively low weight. I love the size of the set: perfect for my stove and fuel canister all packed nicely into the included carrying case. Would highly recommend!

Not for Camp Fire
Disappointed. It was not for camp fire cooking at all. Only used it once.

Incredibly durable cook kit.
I love this cook kit. I have one I have been using for nearly 25 years. I will share this cook kit with my sons as they begin their own explorations of our wild spaces.

camp chef delight
I am using the stainless steel MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set on a few different types of cooking surfaces. I cook on a MSR Dragonfly stove, a Titanium wood burning Y6722 stove by Tomshoo with a Bunsen burner screen insert, and a Lodge Sportsman's grill with charcoal. Sometimes I bake with the Backpacker's Pantry Outback Ultralight Oven. Other cooking situations call for the use of the MSR Heat Exchanger. But mostly I cook with the Alpine pot without accessories. I bake cornbread, baked apples, pizza, Thai shrimp pasta, melted snow for water, boiled water for a fresh Maine lobster, and heated oil to make Indian apple stuffed fry bread. I have even used the lid as a skillet for strawberry cream cheese filled crepes. In all of these and other cooking situations I have found the internal cooking surface a good heat conductor with an even internal cooking surface. And the boil time the same compared to other stainless steel pots. The Alpine 2 is durable. I will say using the lid as a cutting surface is not ideal. Your knife will dull quickly and the stainless steel will scratch. This is not a lightweight backpacking pot set. It is great for kayak expeditions, backpacking base camping, car camping, and Bushcrafters. From the Florida sandy beaches to Maine snowfall, this MSR Alpine pot set keeps shining. The person cooking only limits the cooking performance of this pot.
