Best Pack Ever

I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
6' 2"

I use this pack daily to go to the gym, climbing wall, road trips, flights and more. It’s got enough space for the office and wall, laptop and some short trips. It’s got a lot of space in the main compartment, good organisation pockets, climbs well and fits nicely when on a bike. The big grab handles are great and it does fit under a seat on the plane. The water bottle pockets etc can be a bit weird but the pack doesn’t snag easily as a result and fits great in climbing wall lockers and on the plane. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to any outdoorsy people/active city folk! *womens version is also fine if this is out of stock

Burly Gym/Sport Climbing Bag

Exactly what you want out of this bag! Its not a lightweight alpine pack, in fact its a bit heavy. However, that's to be expected. I personally got this bag for climbing at the gym and for chill sport days or a quick jaunt to a local trad line. It has enough room for a specific climbing outing but look elsewhere if you're thinking of jamming this thing full of a sport rack and full trad rack and a rope, etc. It can be done but at that point get a BD Creek 50 or something similar. For Gym days and simple days out at a local crag this thing is great. lots of pockets for organization, the front pocket is slightly gusseted so even when the pack is stuffed, the outer main pocket still has some room for other items. The side pockets are a bit more restricted when the pack is full but not a huge deal. Would have been nice to see some type of rain cover included but not a deal breaker. The material used in the bag it burly and seems like it will stand up to abuse. The weakest point seems like the draw-cord for closing the main compartment, but I've had a similar one on my Patagonia Ascensionist 30L for 4 years now and is still perfectly fine. Massive grab handles are nice when throwing the pack around so you don't have to scoop up from under the shoulder straps. My main gripe with MHW products is unless it is marketed as 'alpine' or super 'lightweight', its usually frustratingly heavy. In this case that is a plus of the bag. This thing will last and take abuse.

Great multi-use pack

I've put it through the wringer
5' 10"

Hi my name is Tim and I'm an athlete for MHW. I love this pack because it has such a broad spectrum of uses. From going to the gym with a laptop in the specially designed sleeve, to using it as a rope bucket half way up a multi pitch climb. I also use mine for deep water soloing because there is a drainage pocket that I can put my wet clothes in which is separate from the main compartment. I also really like that it can sit on the ground and it can sit upright on it s own.

Tuolumne 35

this is a really great pack. i know that's helpful, but just hear me out. over the past few years i've had multiple packs from multiple brands trying to fill the need left by an old, no-longer-in-production Mammut pack. this is the absolute best i've tried. it can hold all of the things i need for work and for the climbing gym without feeling burdensome. the design is great. the open-top concept with draw string and grab handles is ingenious. it's expandable, but has enough support to holds my valuables such as a MacBook and an iPad (at the same time). lots of little nooks and soft-sided pockets for anything you want to stow away from the main compartments. i'm able to fit climbing shoes, a chalk bag, 11" MacBook Air, iPad Pro, a couple of books, some snacks and a Yeti without any problem. really thoughtful design from the team at Mountain Hardwear, and overall a wonderful bag.

Needs a raincover

When I bought this I pack I realised the danger of rain being funnelled into the front compartiment (that one with the padded compartiment for your cellphone). This is exactly what happens. However, I reckoned on a cleverly hided compartiment with a raincover. If it is there, It is really very cleverly hided, for I cannot find it. A serious drawback on a further excellent daypack.
