Mountain Hardwear's Trail Sender Pant is so comfortable that we sometimes forget that it's technical, too. The polyester ripstop fabric is lightweight, abrasion-resistant, and breathable, a combination that keeps us cooler and drier while still letting us send it on more aggressive mountain missions. This pant is built for hiking, but we also like it as a travel pant and a lightweight, everyday pant for summer.

Get Yourself a Pair
Great lightweight pants for staying cool and covered. Love hiking and rock climbing in these. Really loved my pair from last year so bought these and they actually improved the design with better waist snap and thicker waist drawstring.

Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 32
Super breathable and comfortable in hot weather when I still want sun and bug protection. Good for hiking and backpacking where I live which is low humidity. Doing full on runs you do sweat on it. One thing that's not clear from the pictures is the front pockets are stitched on like cargo pockets, so they do stick out a bit. They're big and roomy but the material is thin so everyone sees the outline of everything.

Love them!
These pants just work. They are super flexible! Nice on the trail or at the tea shop.

Longer inseams please!
Mountain Hardwear please make the trail sender pant available in a longer inseam! I love these pants but have since grown, and would love to buy them again. I have the ap pants which are available in a 34" inseam and they fit great, I would love to see the trail senders have the same sizing option to be inclusive of us taller hikers!

Great 2024 improvements
Great improvements from last year. I liked the trail sender shorts from last year and these improve on the previous version in several ways. First, the best thing about the previous version is the ultra lightweight ripstop fabric and how well it performs in hot weather - the only comparable pants I’ve found in weight are the Patagonia Terrebonne joggers, and these are somehow feel even cooler in hot (90+ F) humid weather. The new 2024 version feels like it has the same fit, but improves on some annoyances from last year: 1. The waistband is slightly elastic, which is more comfortable from previous near 0 stretch 2. The pockets are deeper and the zip pocket has been moved from the front thigh to the side hip. This is a big improvement where your phone no longer barely fits in the pocket or runs up against your hipbone when sitting 3. The construction feels higher quality and more premium. Too early to tell on how durability will compare but definitely feels like it’ll perform better Very happy with all the changes made!
