Low in profile, high in warmth.

Low profile, compressible, stowable, and weighing only 11oz, the Mountain Hardwear Women's Micro Ratio Hooded Down Jacket can easily be thrown in your pack whether you're backpacking, climbing, or heading out for a pre-work dawn patrol. Water-resistant down resists moisture so you'll stay warm even if it gets a little wet. The low-profile hood comes in handy on frigid belays and frozen transitions at the top of the skin track. Dual drawcords at the hem let you make adjustments quickly while you're on the move.

    Perfect coat!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 124lbs

LOVE this coat - extremely light weight and yet very warm. I wore it hiking in 19 degree weather. It was easy to move in and kept me warm. Any colder and I may have needed another layer underneath. But exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend this.

    Versatile, comfy, stylish

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great fitting jacket. I researched until I was blue in the face, looking for a packable, lightweight, hooded down jacket for upcoming overnights this fall and winter. Already, I can say I love this jacket. I've worn it on walks to work on chilly mornings and am just right, can throw it on over my work clothes in a cool conference room, and still feel relatively professional and stylish. I got it in navy, and love the color and fit. I'm 5'2" and 120#, and the small fits perfectly with room for a sweater underneath. Slight taper, sizable pockets, and super light - you can't go wrong here.

    Great versatile jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'1"
    • Weight: 110lbs

Wanted a lightweight down jacket that was packable and covered my rear. MicroRatio fit the bill. I ordered the XS first but had to return it for the S which fit perfectly. So this does run small. Might have liked an adjustable hood rather than the elasticized edge. Otherwise a great jacket.

    Good base layer

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

This jacket is a great choice for any occasion. Thin enough to wear a jacket on top of it yet warm enough that I can wear it alone and be warm in 30 degree weather. Great all around pick.

    Quality

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 150lbs

I bought this for my partner, and she loves it! Wears it as much as the weather permits. It's great on its own or layered. MH has a few higher end models above this one, but for the price/fill/weight this jacket will not disappoint.

    light weight, super warm.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Really light, but keeps me warm on cold days in the single digits. i love that it is compressible because I can just throw it in a backpack without taking up too much room.
If you have long arms, the arms do run a little bit short, but other then that the jacket fits true to size.

    - one downside I have noticed, I've had it for a week and some feathers are already coming out of the jacket. So thats a little disappointing

    Nice Down

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'0"
    • Weight: 118lbs

This down is really nice and warm; my only complaint is that it loses feathers a lot. The fit was also slightly larger than I anticipated, but it just leaves room for layering without constriction.

    Cute and Cozy

I got this jacket in the early spring and I started using it immediately. It was perfect for the chilly damp weather and the cold winds on the east coast. That summer I packed it away, moved to Idaho, and pulled it out again come fall. Once again, it was the perfect layer. I wore it alone all through the fall, then when winter came on I wore it with a fleece underneath, or a leather jacket over it to block the wind, and it was kept me warm no matter what the conditions. Now I wear it under my ski shell and it's still the best! I wear it almost every day and it's held up really well, not loosing too many feathers, keeping it's loft, and it washes well. I'd buy it again, and I probably will in a few years!

    love the jacket but...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I really like this jacket - it has a nice, slimmer fit to it and is longer in the torso but sadly, my arms are too long. I am 5'7" and 130lbs and ordered a medium. It is lightweight and warm. I am going to try the hooded nitrous instead by Mountain Hardware.

    sleeves too short

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I am 6'1, but thin, ordered a large and the sleeves were too short for my long arms. Marmot has jackets with longer arms so I am going with Marmot. I really wish this jacket had fit me bc otherwise i loved it!!!!

If you didn't already get a different jacket or need one in the future, I think the Mt. Hardwear Nitrous jacket would work for you. I'm 5'10" and I'm actually returning the Nitrous because it's too long in the body/torso...the sleeves are also really long - much longer than the Micro Ratio jacket. Other than the fit/length, these two jackets are very similar in looks. The Micro Ratio fits me well in a Medium (5'10" and 140lbs). (I also tried the Nitrous in a Med- fit well, except it was just weirdly long)
