Why We Like The High Exposure GORE-TEX C-Knit Jacket

When we need lightweight coverage for uphill adventures on skis or a snowboard we turn to the Mountain Hardwear High Exposure GORE-TEX C-Knit Jacket. The durable ripstop fabric of this jacket moves with us while we stride uphill through the elements in the high alpine. Once we reach the summit we stuff our skins in the oversized chest zips and rip through the untouched snow towards another lap.

Just an okay jacket.

Overall an okay Jacket, but there is a plastic hook on the inside at the bottom back of the jacket that is poorly placed. If wearing a backpack, it pushes this plastic hook into one's back and is quite uncomfortable. Additionally, there are no side pockets only front chest pockets and these can be uncomfortable when using a backpack chest strap, especially when there are items in these pockets.

Best ski jacket!!

Such a great jacket!! Very light very packable. Just what I needed. There are not any hand warmer pockets. It I felt that this jacket didn’t need them anyway. The two oversized chest pockets held what I needed. And mid layer had pockets if I needed.

Great shell

Great shell, kept me dry all day. Kept my ski pass in the chest pocket and had no problem with the lift gates. I prefer to add my own levels of insulation based on the days weather, and this shell allows me to do this. Highly recommend.

Light weight durable shell

Super lightweight yet durable shell This shell is a little on the pricey side but the value is there. I thought it would have more pockets but the pockets it does have are large and easily accessible and I did not have a need for any additional pockets. I have skied 10 days in this jacket and was not cold, nor hot, it was just right. The shell has good flexibility with no bulkiness. I would buy this shell again. I have used it for skiing and hiking and it worked well for both.

Runs huge. I’m 6’4 and bought an XL. It was down to my mid thigh and sleeves were over my hands. Sizing way off.

Overall, high quality build materials and design. However the fit is ridiculously huge. Tried a size L and it feels like an XL or XXL. Mountain Hardwear mid layers fit perfect in my regular size L, but for whatever reason this shell is way oversized. Unfortunately sizing down is way too snug across the upper back and under the arms. Bummer, nice jacket otherwise.

Great light weight stretch shell

Great jack for days where you build up heat on a long tour and need a lighter weight shell. Packed full of features and works perfectly when wearing avy pack. Pockets sit above the waist belt pf the pack, and skin hooks inside take a 106mm width skin no problem

Mountain Hardwear comes through again

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
XXL
Height:
6' 2"
Weight:
260

I've had alot of trouble lately finding a nice jacket that both fits and does what it's supposed to. I've literally bought and returned 4 jackets and tried on probably 10+ over the last 2 years. Just to be clear, 2 jackets I've returned included Arc'teryx Rush and Patagonia Ascensionist. The Mountain Hardwear High Exposure C Knit is a keeper, and even though I haven't worn it skiing yet, I can tell it will be 1 of my favorite ski jackets I've ever owned...and we're going back 45 years or so. I've had my eye on this for some time...probably over a year. I was concerned about the "Aloe" color, as well as the steep price tag. I really like the color, as it's unique and also something that won't totally stand out, but will definitely still draw some attention. And as for the price, I got it at the very lowest price anywhere it's ever been listed at. I'm 60, 6'-2", and 260 pounds. I am not in the shape I used to be in, and have actually had some issues with XXL jackets being tight in certain places. This thing fits me perfectly and has ample room to layer under (as this is only a shell, and in colder conditions, you'll definitely need a base and mid layer). I have long arms and this beast covers them perfectly (maybe even a bit long, but with the Velcro cuffs, that's not remotely an issue). What I'm most excited about, though, is the light yet high quality weight and feel of the jacket. I have 2 other Mountain Hardwear jackets, and this is by far the lightest, which I appreciate. And it's not a "too light" kind of thing, like you feel you're wearing a windbreaker or rain jacket. For me, it's just right. We're talking about a burly 3 layer GoreTex bomber material that feels almost like a softshell. It's not that loud, annoying GoreTex material that I can't stand. Add in pit zips, and this thing is a true beast. I can't really put into words how happy I am with this purchase.

Great shell for uphill skiing

Would have given 5 stars but wish there were handwarmer pockets.

Do not buy this!

This particular 50% off size M has now been returned at least 2, if not 3 times (once by me). It is NOT a size M. It must be mislabeled but fits about like an XL. MH needs to do some QC... My return comments said to address the sizing issue and not repost it for sale. Apparently they did not read the return comments or they don't care. Their reward is a 1 star review..... The jacket seems to be well made, just mislabeled.
