Ultra-warm and light as an angel fart.

Weighing only 5 ounces, the Mountain Hardwear Men's Ghost Whisperer Down Vest is the lightest down vest on the market. The 800-fill Q.Shield down insulation resists moisture so you don't loose your warmth if snow starts to blow around. The stowable design makes it easy to bring along on ski tours, backpacking trips, and climbing excursions by stuffing it into one of its pockets. And with such a lightweight design, the Ghost Whisperer is incredible for layering, without adding a bunch of bulk to kit.

    Another Amazing Ghost Whisperer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Just like the jackets, this is another amazing Ghost Whisperer piece. If you haven't experienced any of the Ghost Whisperer pieces, you must! They are simply as light as a feather, as packable as a peanut, and as warm as can be! I am a huge fan of all Ghost Whisperer, and the vest is no exception. It is super lightweight, looks great out on the town, and keep me warm while skiing on those frigid days. I find the vest and Ghost Whisperer pieces to all fit true to size and would strongly recommend this if you're looking for a lightweight, down vest.

Feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions at all!

    Five Stars!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I bought this to replace my Patagonia Nano Puff. The Ghost Whisperer definitely seems more durable so far, and it's a great fit. It's light and warm; good for mornings on the river!

    Slim, light, warm!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 180lbs

The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer vest has become an everyday piece for Fall and Winter. I use it as an outerlayer down to 40 degrees (35 if sunny), then as a midlayer or with something underneath as it gets colder.

It's great to take backcountry skiing as it packs down to absolutely nothing, and also remains comfortable across a wide temperature range. I personally hate it when my arms sweat underneath layers, and the Ghost Whisperer vest provides the perfect solution.

I also wear it frequently indoors to fend off that slight winter nip.

Fit is true to size. I'm 6' 1" 180lbs and I wear a medium. It's long enough to cover my torso nicely with a slim, but not tight fight.

    A Slim Fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I've been looking around for a good high-quality down vest. I tried on most of the Arcteryx and Patagonia vests in addition to the Outdoor Research down vest, but couldn't find a good fit. I'm 6'4" and 165lbs so finding something that isn't a sack around my torso, but still long enough in the arms and torso is a challenge. Picked up the Mountain Hardwear on sale and it fits perfectly. Super light, packs into it's own pocket, and love the white/blue/grey color. Also has a nice simple well concealed waist cinch which takes the fit from good to great. Looking forward to taking it into the mountains.

    Light Functional but Delicate

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Great for an additional layer, stuffs down very compact. I've worn it in moderate rain and temps in the low 30's and it's kept me warm and dry. I doubt it would keep me warm in temps cooler then that. Only problem is the outer fabric is super thin and my dog's claws have gone right through it several times. Not sure about MH repairing it or not , but so far duct tape is holding.

    Very nice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 183lbs

Very light and warm but easy to wear on a cool or windy day without being too warm. The problem is that if you snag the material, it is almost impossible to repair.

    Ghost Whisperer Vest

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Great vest! I mostly bought this to use as a mid layer for warmer (20-40 degree) days skiing, and so far it has performed very well. Warmth is perfect for that range for me. Vest breathes well for a down, and is much more resistant to moisture than typical down due to the hydrophobic coating of the down feathers.

Fit is right on the money for me. I'm 5'8" 125 lbs and got a small. Fits well through the shoulders and the length is good (about mid waist) to tuck into my pants skiing. Weight is nearly nonexistent; I wouldn't hesitate bringing this on a spring backpacking trip as a mild insulating layer.

For my purposes, the vest works perfectly. However, it is a little pricy. Wait for it to go on sale and grab yourself a great vest for closer to $175.

I purchased a Pategonia Men's Nano vest from Backcountry thinking it was goose down. I would like to order the Ghost Whisperer Vest and return the Pategonia Nano. How do I do this?
