Mid-distance summer.

You've got a few 10K's and other mid-distance races you want to hone your form and pace on this year, so stick your multiple pairs of plush long run kicks in the closet and replace them with the Mizuno Wave Catalyst 2 Running Shoe instead. When high cadence and rigorous tempo runs replace plodding endurance days, a fast and snappy shoe goes a long way. And with the Catalyst 2, you don't have to sacrifice on support to get the snap you desire. Subtly integrating a lightweight Wave plate within the midsole, Mizuno equips the Catalyst 2 to provide gentle guidance to overpronating runners. As you run hard intervals and build strength ahead of your first race of the season, the springy heel and airy three-piece mesh upper will keep your feet cool and cushioned — the speed is up to you.

  • Whittle down your mid-distance times with this fast shoe
  • Wave plate in midsole provides support for overpronation
  • Versatile 10mm drop suits midfoot or heel strikers
  • Airy Dynamotion Fit uppers provide breathable, secure fit
  • U4icX layer in heel lends extra dose of cushion
  • Item #MIZ004G

Nice shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These shoes are made well, and are a good fit. But for some reason after some longer sessions, they cause my feet to hurt. But I think they are still a nice shoe.

Very versatile shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 11
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Weight: 155lbs

I'm nearing 500 miles on these shoes and they're holding up just fine. They are in my regular rotation for tempo runs and faster longer runs (like 16 w/ 10 at marathon pace for example). This shoe is a workhorse when it comes to letting you find that slightly faster running rhythm. Or, if you're on the lighter side (I'm not), this could be a great day-in, day-out trainer. Great shoe all in all.
