Keep it simple.
When it comes to design and technical performance, sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones. That’s the thinking behind the Merrell Men’s Vapor Glove 3 Luna Leather Shoe. An active casual shoe for everyday performance and light excursions on the trail, the Vapor Glove 3 sports a barefoot design to deliver a natural footfall. A TrailProtect foot pad ensures protection from unexpected hazards, while a durable Vibram TC5+ outsole gives you plenty of grip for mobility on the trail and in your everyday pursuits. Soft full grain leather and a breathable mesh lining give this shoe a sock-like feel which, combined with its stripped-down design, make it ideal for warm weather roaming.

- Q & A
Merrel Vapor Glove 3 Luna Leather
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 11
- Height: 6'1"
- Weight: 165lbs
Extremely comfortable (wide toe-box, good flex)
Regulates temp well, both in hot/humid and cold
Water-resistant (up to an hour before it soaks through in average rain, 60% intensity)
Similar feel to Vibram five fingers, increased floor sensitivity
Ugly 'Merrell' across backside of shoe.
The light brown Luna does require a good amount of upkeep to keep clean but that is not the shoes fault. As someone that cycles a lot I will be buying the black Luna in the future.
Vibram rubber can be extremely noisy walking in halls when wet, more funny than anything.
The Merrel Vapor Glove 3 Luna's are my first pair of low-profile minimalist shoes (I have had Vibram five-fingers for a while for some activities) and I was coming from the standard Merrell Moab type hiking shoe. I was looking for something that provided minimal function but didnât look like something you would wear to Mars. There are an increasing amount of options in this category but the Luna stood out as the best looking and I've had luck with Merrells in the past. So far I've biked everyday, trail ran, been in four rainstorms (air dried), gotten grease, dirt, and blood on the shoes, and went on a date. Honestly these shoes have worked perfectly for my lifestyle and amount of biking/walking I do everyday and I hope that Merrel continues this line as I think I'm done researching a good everyday shoe for a while. My pinky toes are alive again with all the room and I have noticed a dramatic difference in how I walk, focusing more power in the calves.
Suede leather does not require any chemicals or topical products. To clean simply buy a suede brush and lightly scrub. If you get a crazy stain on suede you can actually use a sharp blade and lightly drag following the grain of the leather, essentially taking a thin layer off. I typically brush once or twice a week and then lightly use a blade 1-2 a year to keep suede looking great. Some people like to apply waterproofing but for me that's just more chemicals I don't need.
All in all, if you are a minimalist convert or someone looking for a dress-up worthy shoe that you can still run in, grab a pair of these. I did wait for a sale of $84 but even at $100 they are a good buy.
The final test is to see how long they last and I will try to periodically add to these reviews if anything comes up.
