Thor Tent

Considering it's named after the Norse god of thunder, lightning, and storms, it'd be fair for you to expect the Marmot Thor 2P Tent to be capable of withstanding some seriously harsh weather. And with its bomber construction and sturdy six-pole design, it more than lives up to those expectations. However, it also offers plenty of living space and minimal sacrifice in weight so you stay comfortable when you're sleeping inside it and when you're hauling it to base camp.

Its spacious floor plan provides plenty of room for two campers saddled with bulky mountaineering gear and winter clothes. Six tough and lightweight poles secure the structure to keep it from buckling under heavy snowfall and whipping alpine winds, and tough waterproof fabrics keep moisture at bay. And in case something rips when you're holed up in the mountains for days at a time, the included field repair kit lets you patch up any tears with ease.

  • Bomber mountaineering tent with plenty of space
  • Six-pole design withstands the harshest winds
  • Vents in fly allow air to flow through
  • Poled vestibule protects gear from the elements
  • Light-reflective points help you find tent in low light
  • Internal pockets stow smaller gear
  • Two D-shaped doors allow easy entry and exit
  • Includes field repair kit for easy patching
  • Item #MAR014L

Cold night but stayed warm

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent kept me warm during a cold night sleeping in Wendover last weekend and there was so much space. The only thing I would change would be to either have two people in it to reduce the cold space or get a 1 person. Loved it though!

Really nice tent

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Used this once in Indian Creek to deal with cold nights. The tent setup wasn't too much of a pain and somewhat intuitive. I think 4 seasons tents like this are great for the desert since you can close up the vents and prevent a layer of sand coating all of your stuff.

Tornado tested - nearly

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Took this tent for its first trip recently for 5 days. Temperatures dipped around 30 F at night and kept us warm without an issue. We actually got hot and had to sleep outside our sleeping bags and leave the front window open! There was no issue with condensation at all, the double skeleton design allows condensation to build up on the inside outer layer rather than on the tent walls. Our third day in it began pouring rain for hours on end. We were later approached by a park ranger that informed us of a tornado in the town behind us. High winds combined with heavy rain for 8+ hours really allowed us to get a good understanding of the capability of this tent. After the high winds died down we returned to our site. The tent looked exactly as it did when we first assembled it. It hadn't€™ moved one bit and the inside was dry and warm. Tent preformed exceptionally and will be bringing it on a snow trip soon. Absolutely recommend this tent to anyone for its durability as well as attention to detail found through out the tent.

SOLID, STURDY, AWESOME

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent is built beautifully. Its a tad on the heavier side compared to a few other models but because of that, it is really really solid and should weather storms well. Its super roomy and comfortable inside too. It has amazing ventilation and because of that, it can actually be used in summer (as long as it's not too hot). We have yet to test it in rain though. It was super easy to pitch the tent in crazy winds and it stayed solid all night.

THOR INDEED

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

A great tent in cold weather, high wind, snow, rain, and even summer. The aluminum poles are easy to build and are super strong. When building the vestibule, I can have the entire tent built, and staked, ready to get in and warm up in less than 5 minutes. I have also used this tent for backpacking, you can easily pack light and still have an awesome tent. My only wish is that it had a second vestibule for winter camping, but the second door is a must and comes in very handy.

Beautiful! Glad you stayed warm. That looks a bit chilly. Thanks for the photo!

There was a tent named Tempest by Black Diamond which has two vestibuiles you would love. It's a single wall tent. I don't know if they make it anymore. You should check on it you'll love that one.
