This Jacket is very warm and cozy even in the below 0 weather! Living in the high park city mountains this jacket has been great for the slops and the everyday use. I love how it feels inside the inseam of the jacket is fantastic! I love how it does in the rain as well. No major rainstorms yet, But a great alternative to a 3 in one jacket, water, wind, and snow.

Perfect if you can't stand the cold

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have been looking for a warm jacket that would keep me warm when winter came around. This thing does that and more. I wouldn't advise wearing this if it's above 35 or so degrees. It's just too warm for that. I have worn it when the wind chills have been in the negatives, no wind can get through this thing. It's also very comfortable. You will be very happy if you get this. At around $250 or lower, it's a steal.

    Solid coat

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"

Warm and well made. It's a little bulky, but warm enough for a cold winter day and made of durable materials that can withstand some abuse.

Finally found the right casual jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 145lbs

This was an exhaustive search for the right casual winter jacket. I have several layering systems but wanted something I could just throw on and head out and was non-technical looking. I wanted down, waterproof, rugged fabric, and a nice look. I bought and returned several jackets from several brands. When I first ordered this I ordered a small, which is what I wear 85% of the time. the small fit very nicely over a t-shirt, but if I had my S better sweater or pretty much any casual midlayer the arm pits were very tight. Everywhere else it fit perfectly. Thanks to back country I was able to return it for a medium and keep the sale price that had ended previously. The medium is a tad big on me but allows me to throw it on over a fleece without discomfort. I am glad decided to exchange. I am right on the line measurement wise between small and medium in most brands, but usually end up most comfortable in the small because I like slim fit, but had the same issue with my marmot minimalist. I really like marmot, but sizing comes down to this. Do I want to wear a midlayer? if the answer is yes then I need a medium, if I want to wear it over a T shirt I go small. The quality of the jacket feels great, but I have not gotten a chance to see how warm it will keep me yet, but I am pretty confident in it. Marmot could take a note from patagonia with their underarm gusseting and I would be back in a small. On a side note, my wife is rarely impressed with anything I buy to satisfy my obsession with jackets and boots, but this one turned her head.

    New York jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: S
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I have been using my jacket all this week and is perfect for the winter time in NYC. Looks like a normal jacket but is absolutely warm. If you are a M and you are not going to use under jacket the S looks great! :D
