    Eigerjoch Pro IN Hooded Jacket

The Mammut Men's Eigerjoch Pro IN Hooded Jacket is a heavy-duty insulator that you can count on when you're mountaineering, alpine climbing, or embarking on a frigid expedition. Its innovative insulation includes light, lofty, compressible 800-fill down throughout the body, and Primaloft Gold insulation covers key areas that will most likely get wet from weather. Primaloft Gold maintains warmth even when it gets wet, and it's supremely soft and compressible to ensue easy packing. The jacket's insulated chambers double over one another to eliminate cold spots, and each seam is sealed to prevent a drop of moisture from dripping through. Windproof, water-resistant Pertex Quantum Pro fabric helps the shell shed snowfall and light moisture to keep you comfortably dry as you ice climb and brave snowy storms. Mammut fitted the jacket with Vertical Motion Construction for alpine-specific articulation, and High Reach Technology gussets under the sleeves so you can reach high on the climb without this jacket slipping underneath your harness.

    Surprisingly not warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Although the photos suggested the jacket lacked loft, I did order it. Fortunately, the morning after it arrived we had minus 10 outside, so wearing only a wool shirt under the jacket, I took the dogs out for their exercise, and was surprised after about 5 minutes that I could feel the cold coming through. I went into the house to change into my older, well worn Marmot down jacket, which still has adequate loft, and didn't get cold while outside for another 20 minutes. In addition, the size large jacket was tight and I'm only 5'8", and 165 lbs. I did like the hood fit and the thumb holes. I sent the jacket back and ordered another Marmot.
