Great Beginner Chalk Bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I just started climbing and was looking for a cheap, functional chalk bag that wasn't to flashy or expensive. After using this several times at the gym I think I've definitely found it. The zipper pocket has great storage that doesn't impede to much of the chalk container space and the drawstring on the side cinches up super tight.

I did however notice that it is easy to think you have cinched up the bag all the way, when in fact you haven't. So that's been a mental note I have had to keep while using this bag. Critiques aside, this is a great, affordable chalk bag with solid utility for those testing the waters about venturing into the sport of climbing.

Great zipper pouch

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Good bag, with a top cinch that reliably holds the chalk inside.

But what makes this bag great is the ample zipper pouch. It's easily big enough to hold keys, a wallet, phone, or, in my case, the remote glucose monitor for my daughter (Type 1 diabetes) when we're climbing together. Nice!

All Around Bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

As a beginner climber I didn't want to invest a ton into equipment (yet). This bag was the perfect price and guess what? It hold chalk perfectly! Ha! So far, so good! A+

My goto bag.

Six years ago I picked this up took off the belt and clipped right to my harness and hasn't moved since. Love this bag. Works great, don't forget chalk. Pocket prefect for say car keys, ID, donor card.

Classic chalk bag made to last.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have two Mad Rock chalk bags and find that they hold up better than most other bags. Comes with a waist strap for convenience and easily adjustable top for opening and closing. No need to spend anything more for other bags, great value.

I miss this bag!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had a grey version of this chalk bag from when I first started climbing and I loved it. It's on the smaller side, so it was perfect for my hands. It has a slightly rounded shape that leaves a lot of room for rolling around in chalk and/or squeezing an overstuffed chalk ball without being too high volume. I definitely prefer it to the classic cylinder shape. The material is soft and has good abrasion resistance, although the lip could be a little stiffer. The drawcord pull is amazingly smooth. 3 years of continuous use and it worked like new; all these features add up to a chalk bag worth stealing, apparently!

Good buy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's a chalk bag, it does what it was made to do. The blue looks good, and it's nice that it also comes with a belt.

Update: Nearly 3 years later this bag is still holding up. While it is stained with chalk, the drawstring works just fine, and it is not tearing at all.

It's fine

Its a chalk bag. It's not particularly big, or particularly flashy. It is fine and I like to have it around as a bag I can lend out to new climbers or guests. I personally prefer a slightly larger sized bag (less frequent refilling) that is softer. Gets the job done though and the drawstring closure seems to work great.

A chalk bag is a chalk bad

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

come with the belt so you dont need harness or pants with the belt thing to have this on your back.

a chalk bag is a chalk bag, function like one, carry chalk so yeah nothing more or less, dont carry water or gun but would be a great place to hide cocaine, other than that, its a chalk bag.

Work great, great buy, matchcolor with my carabiner, and my harness, and my 5.10 moccasym.

all red, i take climbing in blood :)
