Why We Like The Ultratrail FX One Trekking Poles

Developed for trail running, the Ultratrail FX One Poles are an indispensable part of our crew. Air channels in the newly designed grip reduce weight and boost breathability, keeping our hands from clamming and cramping, while the ergonomic straps click on and off for zero fuss at aid stations. When not in use, this pair's slight build tucks away discreetly like a good pacer.

Excellent

I purchased for the Mammoth Trail Fest 50k. I have never used poles on a race but due to some of the climbs I thought I would give them a shot. Very useful on the medium and tough climbs and descents. Literally practiced twice before the race and was worried if they would be a pain to pull from the quiver and assemble while in motion. Very easy and seamless. They were there when I needed them and back in the quiver when I was done. Highly recommend.

Better and Easier than Anticipated

I've never used running poles before, but these were awesome on a multi-day running trip in the Dolomites. The quick release harness is so handy compared to having to navigate traditional straps. Now I just leave them in my quiver for any big long runs in the Rockies.

Telluride’s best friend

Best Running and Hiking pole I’ve ever used. Poles helped me increase my speed.

Worth It!

Worth it! I have been on the fence about running poles and finally decided to give them a try. These are a breeze. Light, easy to put together and pull apart, the only part I don't love is the button to push down on to disengage the hand straps. On the other hand, I won't be losing them over a cliff by accidentally letting go. They have made a huge difference in my uphill running game, cutting down on ascent time on steep technical grades.

Light as a feather, strong as a bull

Happy with the poles. They feel sturdy and supportive. Wasn’t sure if I would like the shark grip or not because I have issues with both thumbs and so far they have adjusted well.

Thousand times better than Black Diamond

Build quality is obviously fantastic. Love the gloves. Only thing is that occasionally it's kind of tough to unclip the gloves from the poles like they get jammed in a bit. But overall so pleased.

Super Versatile, Great System

It's a great pole! Super light and the Trail Shark system is pretty amazing. You have to try it to understand it. The poles are not the lightest in the Leki lineup but you wouldn't know it unless comparing side by side. These are very light and a great weight/strength compromise, especially if you're a bit taller or heavier. I like the extended grip on these poles too. It effectively makes the pole shorter for steep ascents. The only thing I'd like to see is an easier way to collapse the pole. The current system of the pin is fine but not the easiest. It can be a little difficult to locate on the move and you need to pull the pole section out slightly in order to press the pin. It's made for that, I'm sure, but I would like to see some change to the mechanism here. I got the pink because that's the color they had in 130cm and I needed it when I needed it, but despite being pretty loud, it's actually very cool. Still, I'd love to see some blue in the lineup.

Light but sturdy

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Great poles for steep trail running. Lightweight but feel sturdy during use. The grips take some getting used to but they work well, allow you to not have to grip with your hands much. Leki makes 135 mm which can be hard to find from other companies. I'm about 6 feet tall and I think 135 mm are perfect.

Great product

Compared to my old black diamond poles, I love that these lock into place and connect to the hand straps. The extra length really helped me climb out of the Grand Canyon with less stress on my legs.
