We’ve done some shorter hikes since getting this a few months back, and the pack held up well to our 2-year-old’s battering. Enjoy all the pockets, especially the camelbak and waterproof ones. Easy to adjust all the straps, though I did have some marks on my shoulders at the end of the day - either I didn’t have the 30 pounds centered right, or could use a little better padding. Only concern was my daughter’s feet kept riding my sides while in the stirrups, though it could just be that she’s a bit on the short side...

This is the best pack I've ever used. So many different parts are easily adjustable it is easy to make it very comfortable for the child and the person carrying them. There are 4 adults in the family that use it to carry my two year old grandson ranging in height from 5' 1" to 6'1" and yet it is equally comfortable for us all. So many extra features to store things and clip on that it is incredibly convenient.

Perfectly comfortable!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I tried the Osprey baby carriers (2018) and the hip belt had sharp corners that would have made it impossible to wear even for short distances. I think I wrote the longest negative review I've ever written because the Osprey was that bad. I should have given more attention to the negative reviews that are all over regarding the Osprey's hip belt design. So we returned it and got this Kelty. As far as comfort goes, this thing is perfect for the wearer. My child doesn't speak yet, but generally we've been successful taking her on short hikes. Two things that would make this pack better is if the buckles on the child restraint were easier to access once you place them in it, and a larger sun shade with more coverage would be nice. But I'll still give it 5 stars

You're right about the Osprey! I love the child's seat, it's so snuggy and cozy, but the Osprey hip and shoulder straps are brutal- even just testing in the store I knew that pack was a no go.

After trying a few kid carriers, my customer was really happy with this carrier. Here is what he had to say: The Kelty is actually relatively comfortable for a kid carrier. It carries almost like a normal backpack other then the awkward higher center of gravity. Adjusting for different torso lengths is ridiculously easy and is as 'on the fly' as they describe it. The harness isn't as intuitive as the osprey but does seem relatively snug for our tiny peanut (barely meets the weight requirement) once we tighten it. The lack of side pockets and CamelBak reservoir didn't bother us, so we went with the slightly lighter model. None of the Kelty packs comes with a full rain cover, which is annoying - but I think the Deuter rain cover will fit.
