Nobody said anything about a trail to the beach.
You brought a big grill and a bigger cooler for your day at the beach, but that trail might convince you to only bring Kelty's Cabana. Unlike your other beach-time necessities, the Cabana comes in a handy carry sack so you can reach your sandy spot with ease. Once there, three fiberglass poles set up a massive shelter to shield you from the unwanted wind, unforeseen showers, or the sun's harmful UV rays. One side of the Cabana is a massive door to let in those beachside views, and the other walls have large mesh windows for ventilation on warm, sunny days.
- Cabana offers shelter at beaches, lakes, games, and even festivals
- Ripstop fabric with PU coating for weather protection
- Single large door takes up the size of one complete wall
- Mesh windows amplify ventilation and secure shut when needed
- Three fiberglass poles, carry backpack, sandbags, and stakes included
- Item #KEL009Q

Like product, features not as advertised
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Purchased for use on South Carolina beaches used 10+ days late July in various conditions. Was a fantastic base to keep everything together and out of the sun. Worked great with the Alps Mountaineering Getaway Chair (anything much higher off the ground might not have worked as well). Withstood strong winds with only the four sandbag anchors with support poles flexing as expected (I filled sandbags and then buried them for rock-solid anchor). Floor space was great size to be able to lay towels down and fall asleep. Cabana was light weight and easy to move after assembly (excellent for when the tide comes in). Carry bag was ample in size allowing for less than perfect compression when putting away in high winds and lots of sand. PROBLEMS: 1. There is not a zipper anywhere on the Cabana, only the carry bag has a zipper. 2. There are three fiberglass poles (not two), one that is very long and can be difficult to work with. Poles are not easy to get through the sleeves in no wind, add wind and it becomes very difficult to get poles out. Also pole aluminum sleeves that connect each section grab the sleeves and really takes two people to manage effectively UNLESS you practice. 3. Did I mention there are no zippers? This is not a problem on the beach, when you button the windows using two buttons in top corners of windows the wind literally holds the window in place as long as the cabana is oriented with good wind-flow and sand tends to drift outside without the airflow of open windows. However, the main door uses 4 buttons to close (no zippers) and will give you enough privacy to change but there are gaps between door flap and cabana sides. 4. Mesh no-see-um for windows is AWESOME for allowing a breeze to blow through. Don't count on it keeping ANY bugs out due to the size of hole and without zippers understand this is a open air shelter. 5. Did I mention no zippers, I will never use this for camping because it will not keep any bugs or critters out. 6. After 10+ uses the elastic drawstring in the collapsable poles stretched to the point where you would try to pull the pole through the sleeve and it just would not come. In windy conditions this required another set of hands to help feed individual sections through while you held the thing down from flapping and blowing. I expect I will have to get new elastic string to replace existing. 7. This isn't really a problem per-se because realistically most people understand you will not keep sand out of anything at the beach but be advised there is simply no way you will keep sand out of this and it will drift inside under windy conditions. OVERALL: I liked the product and it covered my main requirement of being able to place and sit on a chair inside for 2 adults and one child (2 chairs and 1 Crazy Creek chair) keeping the sun off and enabling a full day of beach life.
