Why We Like The Icebug Torne BUGrip GTX Boot
The warmest boot in the Icebug collection, the Torne BUGrip GTX Boot gives us warmth and waterproof protection for winter wear. A wool blend in the boot's shaft and Woolpower lining on the insole seals in our body heat while the GORE-TEX Comfort Lining keeps us warm and dry in the snow. We also like the winter traction provided by the BUGrip rubber with integrated steel studs that dig into packed snow and ice. That's what we need to stay warm—and on our feet—in frigid and slick conditions.

Great grip on icy conditions

There is a popular trail for hiking near my home that gets completely packed down with ice, partially because people like to sled down the trail. I tested out my new boots on the ice for a several-mile hike recently. My three friends that I was with all stopped to pop on their ice cleats while I just kept right on walking in my cozy, warm boots. Coming down the trail, a friend commented that I probably didn't have as much grip as them but I never once slid. As far as I could tell, my shoes were just as effective as their giant boot cleats, which I hate to use because they slide off my boots and have to be adjusted. I bought these after taking a pair of icebug running shoes up on this ice several times, which were just as effective. I've also been on this trail in these conditions without ice cleats, studs or anything and it is very slippery without them. I normally wear a size 5.5 in "regular" shoes, a size 6 in boots, and sometimes a 6.5 in running shoes like Asics and Altras. I bought these in a 6.5 (because they were out of the 6) and they have been a perfect fit.

Perfect for working in ice rink

I am an Athletic Trainer and work ice hockey. These boots keep my feet warm even in the coldest rinks, and are great for walking on the ice safely. Wish I tried these sooner!! They did not require much breaking in, the footbed is a bit firm but I will add some inserts otherwise very comfortable. Highly recommend! Usually wear a 8 1/2 shoe/sneaker sized up to 9 for thick socks. Fit well.
