    200 Oasis 1/2-Zip Top

The Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 200 Oasis Zip-Neck Top is a lightweight baselayer for cruising around the slopes. Its merino wool fabric regulates your body temperature so you're neither too warm nor too cold, and you can zip down the collar for a little air when your ride gets intense. The Oasis also stays fresh after multiple uses, making this baselayer an intricate part of your attire when you head down to Chile for a skiing adventure. Flatlock seams prevent uncomfortable chafing against other layers, and they're offset on the shoulders to keep you comfy when you have a backpack on. A drop-tail hem increases coverage.

    • A lightweight wool baselayer top for active wear in cold weather
    • Merino wool is warm and breathable to regulate temperatures outdoors
    • Half-zip neck offers additional ventilation on extra warm hikes
    • Flatlock seams prevent chafing for all day comfort when worn
    • Offset shoulder seams allow for easier wear when hauling a pack
    • Merino wool is naturally odor resistant to cut back on wash cycles

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.
I got the 1/2 zip version of the Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 200 Oasis. Prior to this my experience was with the 1/2 zip mid-weight base layer from Smartwool (which I love), but I will definitely be adding this to the repertoire. This is a great base layer.
I live in the warmer climes of Las Vegas, but our winters can get a bit chilly (relatively) - especially at night. I wore the Icebreaker quite a bit over the past month, including activities such as some light jogging in the evening, some Muay Thai practice in my unheated garage, as well as just out at dinner or around the house. The Icebreaker base layer was great in every instance. I felt it transitioned well (going from Muay Thai in the garage to relaxing in the house, for example) without being too cold or too warm in either case. The temperature regulation was great.
Speaking of which, I don't tend to sweat a ton, but no one complained about any kind of stink. Maybe the wife is too polite to complain, but my teenage kids would have said something if I was offensive. The wool does its job.
I typically wear a medium in shirts because while I am tall-ish, I am not very big (kinda skinny). In this case I got the large bodyfit and felt it was the right choice. I fear a medium might have been a bit too tight and short in the arms. Your mileage may vary, of course, depending on what you find comfortable, but I think this base layer runs a little small.
I haven't had this piece long enough to comment on its durability, but because I've worn it so much I have washed it a few times already with no problems relating to color fade, shrinking, or frayed seams.
Overall I really dig the Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 200 Oasis. It's comfortable and does the job. I've asked my wife for more this Christmas.

    Go Wool, Never Go Back

Once you go wool you don't go back, and to me worth the cost for the comfort and performance. The quality and feel of Icebreaker merino is readily apparent here - very very soft on the skin but not delicate. Great fit for my lanky shape, with a great hem length that doesn't come untucked. I would use this regular 200 version more for general outdoors, camping, backpacking, etc but would go with the Bodyfit zone 200 for something more intense like snowboarding to have better venting.

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review Is my personal opinion.

I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Utah traveling through Escalante, Bryce, and Zion backpacking, hiking, and canyoneering and the Icebreaker Oasis 200 was my go to layer for the trip. Originally, I was planning to bring a midweight fleece to wear in the mornings and evenings, but went with Oasis ½ zip top and was very surprised! I was able to wear it all day from the 20s(with a puffy jacket) in the mornings to low 60s in the afternoon and was very happy with how well it breathed and adjusted to a wide variety of temperatures. Durability was never a concern as it seemed well constructed and handled sliding down sandstone as well as bushwhacking through tight canyons.

The fit was great. I'd say I'm on the smaller size of the medium range being 5'™-9", 145 pounds, 39 inch chest, and 30 waist and the fit was not too baggy and not too tight. I was able to supplement with a thin wool t-shirt and wear casually as well.

Over the years I've used both polyester and merino wool base layers, but this has been my favorite so far. The top feels very comfortable on the skin and I never noticed any smell build up over the 10 days I wore it without showering. I am really looking forward to wearing this more when ski touring this winter. I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for a new base layer top for cooler to cold weather.

    Versatile Wool Base Layer

    Five Star Base Layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

    • Weight: 165lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I want the reader to be aware, as part of the testing program Backcountry wants honest reviews, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With that being said, I've worn multiple brands of base layers over the years and the Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 200 Oasis is now my go to.

I'll start with sizing. I am 5'11", 165 lbs., waist 32", chest 40". I tested a size medium top and medium bottom. The fit for my build was spot on to the sizing chart. I have included a photo so you can see the fit on my frame. The fit of the top around the waist and chest are not compression tight to the body like Under Armour but it is a tailored, athletic fit. If you want the top layer to be tight against your entire body like Under Armour you may want to order a size smaller. Personally I like the fit.

Transitioning to performance. This product hits all cylinders. I've had the Icebreaker Oasis 200 for about a month now and have worn it about ten times. I used it running, mountain biking, hiking, and working outside, still lacking the snow coverage to test it while skiing.

I'll start with the good. You know you are going to sweat during aerobic activities. The Oasis transfers the sweat away from your body well and dries quickly. A huge bonus is that compared to my other synthetic base layers this one shines in the smell department. Usually after a day of use my other base layers ripen. I was amazed that after a run I let it hang dry without washing and it smelled fine the next day, and the next, and the next. To me this a huge bonus for multi-day trips when space and weight are key. The warmth to weight ratio is great. I have wet suits lined with merino wool and the Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 200 Oasis reinforces why. As I previously stated you know you are going to sweat during aerobic activity, this base layer seems to do a better job keeping you warm while it dries. Another bonus is the 1/2 zip looks nice enough to wear as is when you grab a bite after playing.

Regarding durability, the jury is still out on this. I have only had the Oasis 200 for about a month; however, so far there are no issues. The quality looks good for its intended use. I have a front-loading washing machine and I hang dry so I have not tested it against an agitator or heat.

The ugly: it's not inexpensive; however, based on its performance it's worth the cost.

    Five Star Base Layer

    Great multipurpose base layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'5"
    • Weight: 200lbs

In full disclosure, I was provided this product to test and review. That being said this is the best insulating base layer I've worn and it is now my go to base layer for winter sports. I tried the Icebreaker 200 out while running, mountain biking, road biking, and hiking in the mid-Atlantic area in the early winter. I am yet to ski with it, but plan to use it exclusively this season.

    The pros:
    1. Very comfortable material. I usually get pretty itchy even with fine wool, but this material feels great against the skin and doesn't cause any itching even when working out at high intensity.
    2. Breathability. When working at high intensity I rarely found myself actually sweating underneath this layer, but even when I did I felt that it wicked away the moisture and dried out quickly. This is great for winter road riding when you can get a good sweat going on the climb but then don't want to freeze on the descent because of built up sweat.
    3. Warmth. This is a medium thickness base layer, which for me is perfect as I tend to run a little warm when exercising. I haven't tested this in extreme cold, but in the mid 30's this plus an outer layer plus a shell has been perfect for mountain and road biking. Under a puffy with a shell I was perfectly warm while doing lower intensity work like hiking.

    Cons:
    1. There's only one, and that's fit. However, I am not a standard size (6'5" 200 lbs) and my legs are a little disproportionately long. An XL top fits well, although a little looser than I would prefer/think is intended. Large sleeve length would be too short. XL bottoms fit fairly well, but just are a little short. These are standard fit issues I have with all base layers, so it's something I'm used to and I'll still want to use this product for the above mentioned reasons.

Overall I think this is a great base layer. I previously was using mostly Craft products, and may still from time to time (especially for road riding where the fit is a little more snug), but for most activities I will likely be sticking to the Icebreaker Oasis 200.

    Wearing it right now!

    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 174lbs

I am a huge fan of icebreaker for both active and casual use. I love the athletic fit of the bodyfit 200 as it looks great and layers beautifully for alpine adventures, winter running, and just lounging around town. I like the fit of the medium as it is a trim fit but not too tight that I feel constricted. The 200 g weight is perfect as it still breathes well but offers plenty of warmth that I can run in temps in the 20's just fine and feel warm but not roasted! Another win for the best merino supplier in the game.

    Merino for the win

    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 6'2"

Icebreaker nailed it with this baselayer. The 200 Oasis 1\2 zip strikes me as a piece that can be used all year long. Cool enough summer nights as a stand alone and yet thick enough for snowsports. The fabric has an amazing next to skin feel, softer than a lot of wool products out there.

My first impression of the shirt was that it was well made and tailored to fit close as a baselayer should without being baggy. I used it for several very cold camping as sleepwear and was stoked how cozy and warm it felt! After some early season skiing and ice climbing the Oasis long sleeve stands out in its simple performance. I believe that if you don't notice a garment while wearing it, than its doing its job and letting you focus on the task at hand.

For sizing, this fits close and I feel is true to an athletic fitting "large" While if you wanted something with additional length I'd assume sizing up would be fine.

    Merino for the win

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review Is my personal opinion. The Icebreaker 200 Oasis 1/2-Zip Top has been terrific so far. I've had the chance to test during camping trips and some cold weather soccer games. I'm looking forward to getting it on the slopes this winter too. Weight and warmth wise, I'd compare it to Patagonia Calipene Mid Weight base layer. The great thing about this Icebreaker version is that since it is wool, it doesn't start to get funky like the Patagonia versions which are synthetic. No issues with any scratchiness from the wool - perfectly comfortable as a base layer. I can probably get two wearings out of it on a ski trip if needed saving me having to pack as many base layers. Fit wise, I normally wear a Large in North Face, ArcTeryx, and Patagonia, but in this trimmer fit, the Extra Large is the comparable size. I'll update this review as soon as I've had it on the slopes.

    Very satisfied

i was given this ICEBREAKER product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I fell in love with this ICEBREAKER product as soon as i tried it for the first time. It was right to size, compressed in the right places and was loose in the right places. The fabric is very pleasant to skin, nothing itchy or scratchy and it really gives you a really good and worm feeling. I have used this product for cycling, hiking and fishing in 30-40 degrees weather, worked perfectly for me. For heavy workout it didn't feel sweaty and for just standing in the river when fishing it felt just warm enough. The cleaning and laundry was pretty straight forward, no limitations. Came out the same size without any shrinkage problems like you sometimes see for low quality products. I can definitely say that you will be satisfied when buying this ICEBREAKER product as you will find it useful for plenty of any outdoor activities to keep you warm and dry. I think in terms of pricing this product also gives you a high level of cost effectiveness being not too expensive. This is not the first product from ICEBREAKER that i have used and i have always been satisfied with this company high quality products. Go ahead and try this one, you will love it.

    Super Comfortable Base Layer

I was provided this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

The Icebreaker Oasis 200 quarter zip is a great overall base layer due to its comfortability during longer day hikes. I have taken this to the Adirondacks in NY during the latest winter storm in October, 2018. In the Adirondacks there was a foot of snow at the top of the mountain. I paired this with my Patagonia Nano Puff and I never was too warm or had to strip off layers. The comfort, yet breathability, of this base layer is really impressive. It is definitely soft enough to just be worn on it's own, but I did wear a synthetic t shirt underneath. I was able to keep the Icebreaker Oasis 200 and the Patagonia Nano Puff on throughout my whole assent and descent of Mount Algonquin.

The fit is true to size. I ordered a medium and I am 140 pounds, 5 foot 10 inches, and it was neither too big or too small. The durability of this product is great! I plan on using this all winter for backcountry downhill and cross-country skiing. I ordered black and the color is true to what is advertised.

In the picture shown I have the Icebreak Oasis 200 quarter zip and leggings and they are just so warm and comfy!

The Icebreak Oasis 200 is a premium base layer and I would highly recommend!

    Super Comfortable Base Layer

    Comfortable and light- Mid layer?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 162lbs

So far this fall I have used this for trail runs in the low 50s. I am looking forward to the experiencing it in deep of winter. Here's the deal. This is an Icebreaker and like all my others it is well made and comfortable. If you haven't experienced the near magic thermo-regulation of these pieces you are in for a treat. The 200gm merino wool ensures the sweet spot.
That said, i am not sure I really get the zip on a true baselayer. For me it just adds bulk and a point of irritation under my chin when fully zipped. I feel like if i really need to unzip my baselayer, I probably picked the wrong one! I also found the size a bit on the large side. I am a solid medium across the board but this felt a bit loose in the chest and arms were a touch long for me. I am going to move this piece to a light mid layer position and see how it goes.

    Cold Weather High Output Comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 150lbs

The BodyFit 200 Oasis Zip-Neck top from Icebreaker is my go to piece for backcountry touring. The 200 weight will keep you warm and dry while doing high output activities in most winter conditions. It breathes great and is really comfortable.
It would use a little length in the arms but other then that the fit is great.

    Great Winter Time Base Layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I updated my quiver of baselayers recently with the BodyFit 200 Oasis Zip-Neck Top from Icebreaker as I have mostly merino with less of a insulation weight and crew tops. It did not disappoint as the 200 weight is great for most winter time conditions and breathes pretty easily, especially when paired with another merino piece as a mid-layer. I was even pretty comfy going hard on the skintrack and since I run a bit warm personally this was a pleasant surprise. The weave is also amazing as there is no hint of discomfort or itch on the inner or outer of this layer.

The fit is pretty much perfect as well. I'm 5'11" 180 lbs with a med-smallish torso, short arms, wide shoulders and med-smallish waist and the Large worked great. The only nitpick I have for this piece is that some people like a longer arm length with thumb holes, but it does still come down to personal preference.

I would highly recommend this the Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Oasis Zip-Neck Top to anyone looking for a go to baselayer for most winter conditions.
