Why We Like The Ibis HD6 GX Eagle AXS Transmission Mountain Bike

From enduro races to lapping our favorite downhill trails, we love the Ibis HD6 for its increased capability, mixed-wheel setup, and insatiable desire to rail chunky trails at Mach speed. The HD6 is a big step up from its older sibling, the HD5, with 15mm of added rear suspension travel and 10mm more fork travel. In addition, the HD6 takes things up a notch and slaps a 29-inch wheel up front while keeping the agile 27.5-inch wheel in the rear to bring us a mixed-wheel setup for the best of both worlds. With 165mm of DW-Link suspension, the HD6 can bomb technical trails with reckless abandon, climb like a trail bike, and give us a plush yet supportive ride. Designed for railing big mountain descents and enduro racing, the HD6 has a 64-degree headtube angle for maximum stability when descending, and a size-specific seat tube angle, averaging 76.5 degrees, puts us in an efficient position when climbing back to the top for another lap. Short and snappy 435mm chainstays across all sizes ensure an agile bike with impressive rear wheel turning and a knack for getting the front wheel off the ground. A reworked link design gives the HD6 a progressive leverage ratio and a coil-compatible shock, while the lower link has been rotated 90 degrees, allowing us to access it without having to remove our cranks. The frame of the HD6 features integrated chainstay and downtube protectors for frame protection, has a shuttle guard so we can drive to the trailhead worry-free, has room for a bottle mount in the front triangle, and has internal cable routing with internally guided tubes for effortless cable management.

The GX Eagle Transmission AXS Build of the Ibis HD6 comes complete with electronic shifting, premium components, and a quality carbon fiber frame. Weighing in at just over 7.5 pounds for the frame with the rear shock, The HD6's frame is made with premium carbon fiber to give us a super lightweight, stiff, and durable frame capable of taking on just about any trail. SRAM's GX Transmission AXS drivetrain provides perfect electronic shifting that is precise, smooth, and reliable on every shift, even under load. Fox Factory suspension takes this build up another notch, giving us a Factory 38, 180mm fork up front to smash through rocks and roots and soak up big hits on the roughest trails. In the rear, a Factory Float X2 rear shock provides tons of adjustments to tune our shock to our riding style and gives us uncompromising traction and small bump sensitivity. Blackbird send alloy rims give us confidence as we blaze through rock gardens at full speed, and SRAM Code RSC 4-piston brakes supply us with tons of stopping power as we rail down the steepest trails at race speed.

*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
