Manufacturing flaw
I got a pair of these shoes in night sky 2 months ago. Within a month, the rubber toe cap was coming loose on the inside of the right shoe. Hoka did an even exchange for another pair. (Good!) I've had the second pair for a month. Guess what is happening in the same spot on my new shoes? If you said the toe cap is coming loose in the same place you would be correct. Hoka offered a refund. (Good) And made some recommendations of other models that might work for me.(Good) But good grief!

Most excellent
At 70, I need the support of these shoes. They give me safety and comfort and stability. And, they are purple ❣️

Recommend ordering 1/2 size larger
I debated sending the boots back; but ended up keeping them simply because I needed them now. They run small. They fit; but are snug & I'm glad when I get them off.

Great comfort, good traction, not water resistant
The boots fit lovely. The toe was wide, and the traction was wonderful but the first day out I crossed A wet lawn, the insides were completely soaked. After a very soggy hike, I went home and dried them, and then hit them with the Nikwax. I allowed for dry time with that and took them out again. After walking through some mud, my feet were completely soaked once more. No hiking boot should get that wet that quickly.

Heels are too big.
I don't like that the heel soles extend out so far on each side. Too easy to get tripped up. Otherwise, this is a great hiking shoe.

Not so comfy.
Initially I wore them around the house thinking they may need to be broken in, but not at all, but while doing this I noticed it they bothered my ankles quite a bit. They do get very hot as well so probably better for winter months. Overall I ended up returning them as they were not comfortable walking/ hiking 8+ hours days. I ordered a half size up, maybe a full size up would work better given thicker socks?

Comfy before blister
I bought Anacapa 2 Mid GTX and the Mid Breeze version as well as Trail Code GTX . Love the colors of all three. The trail code did not have any toe protection whatsoever, so they were out of the race. I took the Anacapas on test hikes. I walked in some snow and the GTX kept my feet dry. Both pairs are comfortable at first even though I was hoping for a bit more cushion. About mile 5 hot spots started to develop on the side of both my heels even though I was wearing quality wool socks. After having the same experience with both pairs: blisters on the same spots of the in-side of my heels I realized that it is not just one pair issue, so I ended up returning them all.

I would buy these shoes again
I have a thin slender foot and this shoe fit me perfectly!! Other Hokas I tried were too wide in the toe box

I'm sure it's probably great for young hikers
If you're a 20-something with no foot issues, then I'm sure you'll love this shoe. I am a bit older & require a bit more out of a shoe which is why I LOVE HOKA! Saved me a fortune in podiatrist bills. However, I found this shoe cumbersome, uncomfortable, with a smaller toe-box and they were not quite a half size too small. I returned them. No hassle. So 3 stars for quality & ease. These shoes would last quite some time for the right person.
