Why We Like The Helly Hansen Powderqueen Bib Pant
When you're chasing the deepest, freshest powder, you need the finest ensemble to keep you dry, mobile, and ready to perform. Suit up in the Helly Hansen Powderqueen Bib Pant and its freeride features and fabric technologies will allow you focus on your next great descent. This year's model of the Powderqueen has a beacon specific pocket on the right thigh and added reinforcements inside the bottom hems to avoid snagging and abrasion from boot buckles and ski edges to keep the pants in top shape for many seasons to come.
Helly Tech Performance and fully sealed seams keep dry through deep powder while the four-way stretch material and articulated construction and the seat and knees keep you mobile through ascents and descents alike. Its two-ply construction helps the bibs feel warmer on dawn patrols while the brushed fleece lining at the seat offers light cushion and warmth for sitting on cold chairlifts. Side ventilation zippers dump excess heat when you're lapping deep runs and when nature calls, a two-way barn door zipper on the backside allows you to conveniently take care of business and get back to shredding.

Not actually waterproof

I wanted to love these, but I was sitting on the wet ground for less than five minutes and all the moisture soaked through! How completely disappointing.

True to size!

I got these in a size small. I’m 5’2, 26in waist and 123lbs. I was concerned about the length since I’m only 5’2 and I’ve seen reviews online that HH bibs tend to fit long, but they fit perfect! It probably has something to do with the straps because they’re super adjustable. That said, I have to agree with another review that mentioned the placement of the bib/straps were made for someone without a chest. This is not a problem for me. In fact, it’s ideal in my case, but something to consider if you’re well endowed. The only feature I wish it had is an adjustable waist. I could probably fit an XS, but I imagine the mobility would be pretty restricted and I wouldn’t be able to wear thick layers if I need to. Overall, I’m really pleased with my purchase especially at the price point! I can’t wait to test these out!

Great Bib-hugs in all the right places

I cannot wait to put these to use this winter. I really like how they fit. To me, the size was perfect. I am an athletic build with strong quads and glutes and not much of a waist. I got these in a medium and still have room to layer underneath-not a ton of room but adequate. I do like all the pockets and I gave them a test run in the ever-important ease of making a call to nature and they passed! I will write another review after I've used these to give my impressions on how they move and whether or not they keep me warm. But for now, I am extremely happy with them and the price point was even better!

Solid pants with some issues
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

- L

These are solid pants, rode in them twice (once on a frigid New England day) and I stayed nice and dry (and relatively warm -- it was 6º). I'm just frustrated companies don't make pants for us curvy big thighs and big butt women! I'm 5' tall with a 29 in waist, 43 in low hip, and 24 in thighs. I bought a L and they fit, but it's a struggle to zip up the thigh so I can't wear thick layers underneath. I agree with the bucket look of the bib (as I'm smaller up top) but that doesn't bother me too much, though I do wish the waist were adjustable (but it did keep the snow out). While they feel a little tight on my thighs, there is good mobility and I didn't feel restricted at all on the mountain. The length on me is hilariously long, but that's to be expected when short lengths aren't available. The bib straps are VERY stretchy, wish the straps themselves were a little shorter (because of my height), but due to their stretchiness, I was able to pee in them with all my gear on, so that's a plus!

Hard to get on/off with a jacket on
- Familiarity:

I liked basically everything about these bibs except for the zipper to get them off and on. The pockets were great, the material was light, and the elastic on the bib straps was nice to get them off and on. The zipper to get them on and off was a little too far over where if I was still wearing my jacket, I couldn't zip them back up. If they redesigned the zipper 2 inches closer to the hip I think these would be amazing bibs.

Too big around the waist
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- XS
- Height:
- 5' 4.5"
- Weight:
- 110
I am 5'4" and 110 lbs, I ordered a size S first which was just way too big and downsized to XS and the legs and hips have plenty of room. The waist and bib part is way too big, looks like I am standing in a bucket. The waist is not adjustable. The bib and shoulder straps are also in a weird position like this was made for somebody with no chest. I love the material and the insulation of these pants but I will have to send it back, there is just no way to make it fit.

Comfy, cozy, flexible
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- M
- Height:
- 5' 6"
- Weight:
- 135
For reference: I'm 5'6", 135, carry more weight in my butt and thighs (35/26/39). I ordered these in a medium and a large given the recommendation to size up. Medium fit perfectly, large was too big! The zippers are easy to use, I love the pockets/pocket location, it's easy to get on and off, the legs are roomy. My only wish is that the waist could be adjustable. Otherwise I'm really happy with these and they did great on my test run!

SNUG
- Size Bought:
- small
- Height:
- 5' 6"
- Weight:
- 120
I haven't used these on the mountain yet. But at 5'6 and 120 lbs and 26 inch jean size, I went with a size small. These were so tight around my rear and hips that had I not been wearing seamless underwear, you could likely see them. Maybe for inbound groomers, these would be ok, but the kinda movement that is required by anything more athletic.. and these won't work. I don't even have my skier bum yet and the fit is already an issue. I'm going to try a medium cause I otherwise really like them... but the length was right for small, so I don't have high hopes.
