First thing... This jacket is overpriced. It should be around $250. The jacket feels great. The fit is great. The arm holes are perfect. I tried many parkas including TFG, LLBean etc, and the arm holes seem to be an issue where you can't raise your arms up without the the jacket sticking up over the shoulders. It's very uncomfortable. Not with this jacket.. It's just right. The problem with this jacket is that the sleeves are too long, going past your arm wrist. I am not the biggest fan of velcro cuffs, but I can live with it. The jacket is slightly tight around the torso and does stick out around the mid chest area, but not that noticable. When you button down the bottom of the jacket, it's a bit tight around the legs (just below the waist). If this jacket only had ribbed cuffs, I'd give it five stars. The jacket does run large. Go one size down!!!

Very good jacket but.... the sleeves
Jacket runs little big. I am 5'9" and 170 lbs. Ordered Med. because I like little room around body. I am satisfied with body volume but the SLEEVES.... Way too Loooong for me. If you wear shirts size 32-33 like I am, think again...

Pay attention to the zipper comments!
Love the way the coat looks, but pay attention to the reviews about the zipper! I purchased it thinking that maybe the zipper issues were isolated, but I found the zipper to be very challenging (even frustrating). It is nice that it is a 2 way zipper, but that lends to the issues with the zipper not lining up correctly. I will be returning- For the price point on this coat I would expect the coat to be perfect!

I have to give this a 1 star because the zipper broke after about a month of use. The zipper on this coat is plastic. The very end of the zipper disintegrated, and the zipper âpullsâ now fall off. Although only one component, this is such a significant flaw that I have to give it a 1 star. Other than the zipper, the coat is well made. The fabric is durable, it is very warm, there are lots of pockets, and the hood is great (much better with no tunnel vision like the Polar Guide Parka). If there wasn't the quality issue with the zipper, it would be a 5 star coat. But for now I have to return it and canât recommend this coat because of this issue. I would buy a Fjallraven coat again if I found out they were making them with metal zippers, not plastic. I purchased this coat in early 2019 for reference.

so warm

you can not find a warmer, more stylish parka, fashionable enough for the city yet warm and functional enough for the mountain, the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that the zipper is on the left hand side

Had the opportunity to use the coat and it certainly delivers when it comes to warmth and style! Fleece lining on the interior made it extra comfortable while driving and there are so many pockets for added convenience. Since this is a parka and runs large it is quite cumbersome so not exactly a coat you'd want to bring on a trek, but if you're looking to use it as a daily article for the winter it's great!

This is, hands down, the best winter jacket I’ve ever put on. My previous jacket was a North Face shell+fleece combo that served me well for 15 years. This jacket is leaps and bounds better. I purchased the Mountain Grey which is a beautiful medium grey color. Let’s start with the most important part of a winter jacket - warmth. I live in New York and while it isn’t Canada or the mountains of Minnesota, it consistently dips into the single digits here during winter. This jacket is so warm that I can, and do, wear a t-shirt underneath. There is no need for any other layers. I couldn’t believe how warm i was with just a little t-shirt underneath. The warmth is so real that you’ll get a chill when you take it off. This is because the materials used are superb. It doesn’t matter how cold or windy it is - you feel nothing. Secondly, let’s talk about sizing. I purchased his jacket after a buddy of mine bought it and I tried his on. He has the same measurables as me (5’11”, ~200lbs), but he’s more fit than I am (basically i’ve got a nice big dad belly and he’s more built and in shape). He purchased a Medium (he’s normally a Large), and after trying his on, I opted for the large to have some more room for my midsection, as well as slightly longer sleeves (I have long arms and the sleeves on the medium were a bit too short when my arms were stretched). I also like a slightly looser fitting jacket, so I opted for the Large (I’m normally an XL including my 15 year old North Face). That being said - if you are in shape and don’t have oddly long arms, I would go with the medium as it will be form fitting. Don’t listen to the other reviews about size - the Backcountry team knows their products very well and they were the ones who advised me of the sizing. The jacket runs large. As for the zipper being on the left (the slider on the left as opposed to the right) - some of the reasons in these other reviews are hilarious. The reason is that this is how Fjallraven makes their jackets - that’s it. It is much more common for European manufacturers to have zippers on the left side but this is not the only reason. It’s simply the manufacturer’s choice and being that this is a Swedish company, it shouldn’t be surprising to people. Next let’s talk about form and function. The large, as stated earlier, fits me just slightly loosely, allowing more room for me to comfortably move around. This also helps when filling up the 75 pockets this thing has. Seriously, you can carry an absurd amount of stuff with you. I carry leather gloves, a pair of 180s earmuffs, and a thin Balaclava on a regular basis, in addition to the normal stuff like keys and phone. I could also fit a kid’s edition fire tablet and a Nintendo Switch in this thing and have room for plenty more. The double zipper is, of course, fantastic for driving (or sitting anywhere). I saw in another review a complaint about the hood but don’t understand it - there’s an adjustment strap on the back of the hood so you can control how far it extends past your face. The adjustment strap also comes in handy when wearing a hat underneath or not. Lastly - maintenance. There is none, which was a key selling point for me. Some of the other offerings from Fjallraven with the G-1000 require that you wax the jacket from time to time to realize it’s true capabilities. I believe these are also goose down jackets. I have two kids, a full time job and no time for that, so this jacket with the Supreme Microloft filling and no need for waxing was the clear winner. In conclusion, i expect this jacket to last the same 15 years, if not longer, as my previous jacket. And i’ll be much warmer when wearing it. I didn’t bother talking about price because winter jackets are one of those get-what-you-pay-for purchases. That being said, Backcountry runs sales on these regularly. Forget the trendy, overpriced, not as functional brand with the goose, buy this, and be happy.

I have an athletic build, this jacket fits great, being that its a parka it's supposed to have a little extra room so you can add extra layers under if needed. My recommendation for anyone who wants a tighter fit just buy a size smaller than you usually do, I've owned this jacket for about a month or so and I have never been cold wearing it even with just a T-shirt under. So far the weather has been at about below freezing but this jacket protects me from the rain and the intense winds of NYC. I love all the extra pockets inside and outside the jacket especially the two bottom interior ones, I have been able to use it to fit lightweight bags. I don't have any complaints about the jacket, great for a northeast winter. Not too bulky, lightweight, and keeps you plenty warm. I was gonna buy a crazy expensive Canada Goose jacket and realized, for my purposes, this jacket was sufficient, which is mostly urban casual use. I'm glad I was able to purchase a really great quality, stylish jacket for a decent price.

If you are tired of being cold in winter, this is the perfect jacket for you. Some of the features that I love the most are the many pockets, you can store keys, phone, wallet, gloves, snacks, etc. The next feature I love is the large sleeve opening, near the cuff. This allows for your gloves to easily go inside the jacket which I really like. I always like to zip up my jacket all the way to the top and this one has the fleece lining which is perfect! The hood is actually pretty rigid, which is great, if you pull up the fur around your face it will stay there and not flop down. The length is also nice, it helps when biting winds want to cut into your soul.

A nearly perfect coat

This parka will impress from the moment you put it on. The first thing you will notice is how heavy it is. It is twice as heavy as my former winter coat (Columbia XCO). The next thing you will notice is how quickly you will warm up with it on. Without question, this is the warmest parka I have ever worn. The utility on the coat is very high as there are numerous pockets of various sizes that will hold just about anything. I find the two outer zip pockets on the chest to be the most useful for quick access to phone and wallet. When I arrived home with this parka, I think it was about 20-30 minutes after my wife tried it on that I was purchasing her the women's version (the Nuuk). It's just that good. Why 4 stars? I deducted a star because main zipper is annoying to use. Sometimes I can zip it right up, other times I struggle for 30 seconds to get it lined up so it will zip. This one annoyance is nowhere near enough to prevent me from recommending it to all I know.

Got mad compliments while wearing this bad boy. It's extremely warm and has tons of pockets that somehow don't get in the way. A truly heavy-duty parka. Definitely runs large, though. I recommend sizing down. I normally wear a large, and the large for this jacket was way too big.

Love this parka!
I love this parka. First off it just looks great! I got many compliments on it during Thanksgiving. I love the many pockets this parka has, my favorite being the inside pocket to hold a phone with the outlet for headphones. The fleece material at the top of the inside of the jacket feels great against the neck and face. I'm 6â0 145 and the parka fits perfect with a good amount of room to layer underneath.

I have had another top name brand parka for quite some time and decided to look for a replacement this year. I ordered this out on a limb, never owning a Fjallraven product before when it was on sale. This absolutely exceeds my expectations. The jacket is lighter in feel when worn, doesn’t feel overly burly or heavy. It feels like a true coat that keeps you warm and less like a massive snowball of a jacket, which is what I was looking for. The numerous and conveniently placed pockets throughout the jacket, continue to surprise me each day for everyday use. An agreed consensus is this jakcet does run a bit on the large size, which I agree with. Go a size down what you would usually wear. If you’re in the fence between this and a TNF parka, I wouks highly recommend this over any other parka on the market.

Trying it out in Northern MN. It gets cold, and Iâm so far impressed! Chicken waist and beaver mud wipes right off, plus it seems light for the warmth it provides. The hood is lovely large like the sleeves and length of the jacket, it covers the whole head/face/body for a break from cutting wood. A+

Superb in the cold blustery conditions, waterproof and very warm in low single digit temps so far. Product is as described. Excellent standard of clothing, feels heavy dty, recommend to keep extreme weather out but would anticipate not being too active in this garment as heavy/very warm, outstanding!

Bought this coat because my North Face zipper broke an had to send it back for repair. It is every bit as warm as my North Face. It fit true to size however the hood is very large but fits well while wearing a ski cap. Would have given it 5 stars but I had trouble adjusting to the zipper because it is on the left side of the coat (I thought it was a woman’s coat but the label stated men’s coat). Very happy with coat and would highly recommend it.

This is a very warm and comfortable jacket. High quality, heavy weight and great fit make this my new go to jacket for most occasions. I wasn't into the fur so I zipped it off, and the hood is great when the wind picks up. Highly recommend this jacket for anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, stylish winter jacket!

I am 6'2" 198lbs, 32" waist usually 35 to 36" long in the arms. Jacket was really big in the body and short in the arms. Warm for sure in cold temps. Hood was not practical unless you are wearing a helmet of some sort. Great Customer Service in Allowing my Return/Exchange.
