Stealing the throne from Five Ten's Freerider, the Freerider Pro Men's Cycling Shoe ups the ante with extra toe protection and an even faster drying, weather-resistant upper. As with its predecessor, this shoe adds subtle styling to technological features made to shred the gnarliest of trails. In a world of neon trimmings and flashy personalities, these shoes let your riding skills take center stage.

Five Ten's non-marking Stealth S1 dotty rubber outsole provides excellent grip to keep your feet securely on the pedals. It's also built to endure the prodding from the metal spikes on your pedals all day, meaning it'll outlast the gum rubber sole on a conventional skate shoe every time and stick better to your pedals.

    • A grippy-soled freeride shoe
    • Sticky, durable Stealth S1 rubber sole
    • Synthetic upper dries quickly
    • Reinforced toe box resists impacts
    • Comfortable Ortholite liner supports and cushions

    Five Ten Freerider Pro Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 13
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 250lbs

This was my first set of FIVE TEN shoes and I will for sure be buying more.
They designs of these shoes knew what they were doing when designing the sole of the shoe and the tread, these bad boys grip any peddle and make it so your foot isn't going to lose grip. They are true to size and fit very comfortably.
I rode Deer Valley Bike Park the first day I bought them and it was insane how much they stayed on the peddles with out moving at all. I've climbed multiple trails with then as well now, I love them.
I for sure would get a set if your are looking for a all around shoe for the climber who doesn't wear clip ins, and if you're the person who peddles up for flying down the trail.

    Great shoe...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Second pair of FiveTens. Great for all around trail riding. Stiff sole and upper seems really solid. Inner liner is a little firm around the ankle so taking some time to break in for me.

    Fantastic

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

These are my first pair of five.tens, gosh darn it these are awesome. Very grippy, lightweight, comfortable and seemingly durable. I've put it through about 30 hours worth or riding with no issues at all. Will definitely get a second pair if these ever breakdown.

    Five Ten Freerider Pro Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11.5
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 174lbs

Riding with the Five Ten Freerider shoes is the closest to being clipped in. When I step onto my pedals there is no slipping. In order to change positioning, I have to lift my shoe up and replace it. That extra grip gives me the confidence to continue to attract the trail. I ride on very rocky trails and I have feel very secure when climbing, descending, or going off drops. This is the second pair of Five Ten shoes I've owned and would recommend Five Ten shoes. This pair are lighter than my previous pair and I love the feel and fit.

Nice and light and dry quickly

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 170lbs

So far no issues with the soles. They are pretty light. Might be a touch light for dedicated dh riding but outside of that they are great.

    Sets The Standard

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these as a gift for my boyfriend, as the rubber on his old Freeriders was detaching from the bottoms of his shoes. While that’s seemingly unimpressive product development, know that he’s a competent enduro rider, occasional adventure-hike-a-biker, and ends up on his bike about 5 days out of the week. His old set lasted FIVE YEARS with all the beating, so when it was time to re-up, I went for the Pro model and didn’t even consider another brand. He has a narrow foot, so I thought paying a bit more for these, vs. the standard would be worth it. He does like the fit upgrade - a noticeable improvement to him. Beyond that, the new pair appear to be every bit as durable as the old pair (arguably more stylish / sleek look as well), which is what I was hoping for and expecting out of a great brand like 5.10. When I upgrade my shoes, I’ll be getting the Women’s Pro model to try for me!

    Great

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These shoes are very grippy. I use them with Straitline flats and my feet are glued on.
Lighter weight and much more breathable than Impacts.

    Best Flat Pedal Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I have had the original Freeriders for 2 years, and they were great. These are even better - lighter, better fit, and still the legendary 5.10 grip.

    Greatest

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10

I have worn almost every pair of Five Ten Bike shoes since the original Impacts. These are my favorite so far. Like all Five Tens, Grip is unmatched. They have resolved their sole delamination issues, and there is more padding in the shoes for better dampening. The toe box is super protective, and you can kick pretty much anything and keep your toes safe. There is also a good amount of ventilation on the toe box. This is (in my opinion) the best flat pedal shoe on the market currently.

    Great Upgrade

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This is what my customer Nick L. has to say about these:

The shoes are great, they fit as expected and are a noticeable upgrade to the previous pair of Freeriders I had. They're a bit slimmer, lighter, and better looking (style is important to me as a MTBer, and these look sweet) - lace length is perfect and rests on the stitching across the tongue of the shoe, and it really is the sweet spot in the sense that I didn't have to retie them to make it feel more comfortable as I often have to do with other pairs of shoes. They're very rigid, making my feet feel safe in the case of any wrecks, yet flexible as soon as you're on the bike and as expected, give the confidence I expect from a performance mountain biking shoe. Walking around in them is not they're intended use, but they're more than comfortable in that regard as well.

Overall, an excellent shoe that any MTB'r would appreciate. I hope to enjoy them for many seasons to come.

    Great Shoes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 9
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

These shoes have completely changed the game for me. I've always been a flat pedal guy, for whatever reason I never thought true cycling shoes would make much of a difference so I ran Vans for years. This season I decided to give the Five Ten's a try and I'm so happy that I did. I have so much more bike feel, control and grip. The shoes are also pretty durable, I've put well over a hundred miles on them already and they show no signs of wear. Big fan of these beauties.

    Great Shoes

I used to size down, but not anymore..

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I liked this shoe but I ended up returning. I bought my last pair, Spitfires, several years ago and I had to size down from 9 to 8.5, and those 8.5's are still a bit too big.. I bought this pair of Freerider Pro thinking i would need to size down again but this time 8.5 was way too small & much narrower. I ended up going with the regular Freerider, but still went with my normal size 9 and it fits perfect. I'm not sure but it seems like FiveTen may have changed something with sizing in recent years.. I guess this is more of a heads up than a review. Moral of the story is go with your regular size and it's spot on. Otherwise, FiveTen shoes rule!!

will these (or the basic freerider) work well with platform pedals that don't have pins in them?

    Hi AM,

They will work fine with pedals without pins. You will get more grip with the shoe and pedal if the pedals aren't a smooth surface though. Feel free to give us a call at 888-276-7130 if you have further questions!
