Stealing the throne from Five Ten's Freerider, the Freerider Pro Men's Cycling Shoe ups the ante with extra toe protection and an even faster drying, weather-resistant upper. As with its predecessor, this shoe adds subtle styling to technological features made to shred the gnarliest of trails. In a world of neon trimmings and flashy personalities, these shoes let your riding skills take center stage.

Five Ten's non-marking Stealth S1 dotty rubber outsole provides excellent grip to keep your feet securely on the pedals. It's also built to endure the prodding from the metal spikes on your pedals all day, meaning it'll outlast the gum rubber sole on a conventional skate shoe every time and stick better to your pedals.

    • A grippy-soled freeride shoe
    • Sticky, durable Stealth S1 rubber sole
    • Synthetic upper dries quickly
    • Reinforced toe box resists impacts
    • Comfortable Ortholite liner supports and cushions
    • Item #FVT002C

My son loves these shoes for all of his enduro riding and racing. The soles are super stick and hold their position on his pedals during the craziest of trails. They breath well and the construction is bomb proof.

    Amazing!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been riding clipless pedals for years. But after a few years of riding flats on my fat bike I wanted to give them a try on my regular bike. These things stick to flat pedals like glue. I am never going back to clipping in. Get these, you will never regret it.

    Amazing!

Great trail shoe for flat pedals

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Legendary grip of 5.10 in a nice lightweight slim package. This is the perfect shoe for trail riders who prefer flat pedals instead of clips. If you're looking for a DH or bike park shoe - I recommend going with something a bit beefier like the stealth high, which provide some additional ankle & toe protection.

    Just Right

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This is the best shoe that Five Ten makes, which arguably makes this the best shoe out for mountain biking on platform pedals. I've worn out plenty of pairs of Five Tens over the past decade, including a few pairs of Impacts and a pair of Impact VXI's. I've also racked up plenty of miles in Freeriders and Freerider Contacts. Thus far, the Freerider Pro is my hands down favorite by a significant margin.

They're sticky and supportive like the Impacts, but a bit softer in the midsole, which translates into better pedal feel. They're also dramatically lighter. They're stiffer than the Impact VXI, Freerider, and Freerider Contact, all of which cause my feet to cramp due to the lack of support. As compared to the rest of the Five Ten lineup, the upper has proven to be much more durable and more resistant to taking on moisture.

I've been wearing the same pair since February 2017, riding 2-3 times per week consistently and running a pretty aggressive pedal pin setup, and the sole is finally starting to tear under the ball of the foot. I highly doubt that any competing shoe would have held up this long.

At this point, I'd pay retail for these rather than accept anything else for free. Shoes are a crucial contact point when you're riding flats, and the Freerider Pros are really in a league of their own.

Best MTB flat shoes I've owned so far

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I don't know what took me so long to buy a pair of these, all I know is that I wish I bought them sooner. these shoes really are excellent flat pedal shoes. there comfortable, with a stiff bottom and man do they grip those pins. they literally stick to them. I can't speak for longevity. I've only ridden in them about 20 times, time will tell. the two gripes I have with them, I hate laces (this is a personal thing) the big issue is they retain heat. they definitely need better ventilation which is why I give them 4 stars instead of five stars

    Flat Pedal Shoes that grip!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased these for riding my mountain bike with flats and they work great! The perfect amount of grip and rigidity. I wore these to the gym and I was surprised the black soles left marks all over the basketball court? Weird. I thought all shoes nowadays did not leave marks. Oh well, I did not get them for hoops...

    Sooooo Comfy

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are crazy comfy, and have proven to be quite durable too. I have been wearing mine for about a year now and they are solidly built. Loads of grip from the stealth rubber, True to size, and great impact absorption. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

    Pedal traction in all conditions!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I’ve had this shoe for a few months now. The fit and comfort is great to the point I’ve worn them around the office all day after a morning ride. They are comfortable even during winter riding, and hold grip to the pedals even when they are wet.

Hard to go wrong with a pair of Five Tens for flat pedal riding!

    Awesome riding shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9
    • Height: 6'0"

They are super stiff new, but don’t be fooled by that. They are very comfortable and have amazing grip. I recently switched back to flat pedals from clipless to jump more and get back to the basics and these shoes literally make me feel like I’m clipped in sometimes (no joke). I lowered the pins on my pedals and still have amazing grip.

    Awesome shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm running these with DMR Vault flats. The soles are super grippy. The uppers are thick enough to be worn into the 40's with appropriate socks. They're plenty comfy for riding or walking. They look great.

This was my first set of FIVE TEN shoes and I will for sure be buying more.
They designs of these shoes knew what they were doing when designing the sole of the shoe and the tread, these bad boys grip any peddle and make it so your foot isn't going to lose grip. They are true to size and fit very comfortably.
I rode Deer Valley Bike Park the first day I bought them and it was insane how much they stayed on the peddles with out moving at all. I've climbed multiple trails with then as well now, I love them.
I for sure would get a set if your are looking for a all around shoe for the climber who doesn't wear clip ins, and if you're the person who peddles up for flying down the trail.

    Great shoe...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Second pair of FiveTens. Great for all around trail riding. Stiff sole and upper seems really solid. Inner liner is a little firm around the ankle so taking some time to break in for me.

    Fantastic

These are my first pair of five.tens, gosh darn it these are awesome. Very grippy, lightweight, comfortable and seemingly durable. I've put it through about 30 hours worth or riding with no issues at all. Will definitely get a second pair if these ever breakdown.

Riding with the Five Ten Freerider shoes is the closest to being clipped in. When I step onto my pedals there is no slipping. In order to change positioning, I have to lift my shoe up and replace it. That extra grip gives me the confidence to continue to attract the trail. I ride on very rocky trails and I have feel very secure when climbing, descending, or going off drops. This is the second pair of Five Ten shoes I've owned and would recommend Five Ten shoes. This pair are lighter than my previous pair and I love the feel and fit.

will these (or the basic freerider) work well with platform pedals that don't have pins in them?

    Hi AM,

They will work fine with pedals without pins. You will get more grip with the shoe and pedal if the pedals aren't a smooth surface though. Feel free to give us a call at 888-276-7130 if you have further questions!
