    You can have both.

Crank Brothers' newest pedal addition, the Doubleshot Pedals, addresses the needs of riders who want to be clipped-in sometimes with the freedom to occasionally ride on platforms. Whether you're a newbie to the world of clip-ins or someone who uses your bike for trail riding on the weekends and commuting during the week, the Doubleshot's two-sided design allows you to switch from clipped-in to flat with a flick of the pedals.

On the clipless side, Crank Brothers includes its classic Egg Beater design, which is easy to get in and out of in a pinch when you get to a technical section of trail. Crank Brothers wanted to extend the lifespan of its Egg Beater design, and the new self-lubricating Igus LL-glide bearings are sealed both internally and externally to give the entire system a claimed 75% improvement in longevity. When you're clipped-in, you have the choice of either 15 or 20 degrees of float, and the lightweight aluminum and stainless steel body offers enough durability to handle both the roads and the trails without adding bulk to your frame.

    LOVE these

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these as a gift, and here's what she had to say, " I LOVE these. They are super easy to use either side. I was a little worried that they would either be hard to turn or turn too quickly and be annoying. They are absolutely amazing. I am new to clipless pedals and these are perfect. I can easily clip in on roads and terrain I'm not worried about falling on and then just use the flat side for mountain riding that is more technical and I am not quite comfortable with. I know they are a little heavier than most but it is definitely worth the weight. My boyfriend is an experienced rider and he tried mine out and now he wants a pair! I have nothing bad to say about these and I would definitely recommend them to anyone; especially since I am fairly new to riding and my boyfriend is much more experienced and loves them as well. You will not be disappointed."

    Clip, Yes. Platform, No.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The clipless side of this pedal is the same old amazingness that you get with any Crank Bros clipless pedal. Meanwhile, the platform side is is seriously lacking in the friction department. Over bumpy terrain or in wet conditions you might as well walk cause your feet won't want to stay on the flats. If all you're doing with the flat side is leisure rides your fine, but serious riding or even aggressive commuting using the flat side is not advised.

    Solid pedals

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wanted a pedal with two side that I could use with or without clips. These do the trick. I abuse them pretty well hitting rock with them and have not any problems. The only reason I give a 4 start is that the clips were a little tight at the beginning and there is not adjustment to loosen them up. Eventually, after several rides they loosened up and its much easier to clip in and get out as needed. It also made it easier to clip into the pedals when I moved the clips as far forward on my shoes (your shoes could be different).

    Great for snowbiking.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I swtiched all my bikes from shimano SPDs a couple years ago to crank brothers pedals... Egg beaters (stainless) and now these new 2016 Candy's and doubleshot. I never had any issues with the prior generation bearings but won't complain about the apparent upgrade to the internals on the 2016 units. My fat bike spent all winter with the new 'doubleshot' pedals and I've got some AZ bikepack and Moab rides on the new candy and both are performing flawlessly. I appreciate the wide platform on the one side of the doubleshot--when snowbiking its nice to have a big target to mash down on when starting out--then I can clip in once moving.
