Kids Can Alpine Tour Ski Too
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I am an alpine winter backpacking guide and I own 3 of them. I take kids for 4-5 days winter backpacking using this adapter on their adventures so that they can tour into base camp or explore around with climbing skins on. The adapter is lightweight and durable. Super easy to put on and make the necessary adjustments based on the ski boot size in mm. Kids are able to put them on and take them off without difficulty. The adapter also has a built-in heel lift to reduce fatigue on uphill climbs. It is very challenging to find a binding adapter like this one. Hagan makes a binding for alpine touring for kids, but it is more expensive and a binding. This adapter is versatile and can be used on many different youth skis. My own kids and the youth that go on these adventures love them. They like to be able to climb up a mountain, take the adapter off and then ski down that no one has been on with fresh powder. Gives you the flexibility as the child grows as well. It is well worth the investment. You will need climbing skins along with the adapter to turn your downhill ski into a touring ski for your child.
