Women's Yellow Ski Jackets

Think about activity level and weather: hardshells are best for high-output days like ski touring because you can regulate layers and rely on breathability, while insulated jackets are better for cold, lift-accessed resort days. Down is great for static cold, and synthetic fills like 40g options hold up better in wet snow.

A lightweight, highly breathable shell with pit zips and a helmet-compatible hood makes touring more comfortable, and many touring shells are 2.5-layer or lighter to save weight. Models built with Gore-Tex ePE Pro 3L at around 521g, like the Patagonia PowSlayer, strike a nice balance of waterproofing and packability.

Look for extended hemlines, an adjustable powder skirt, reinforced cuffs, and stretch panels or articulated sleeves to keep snow out and allow full mobility in aggressive terrain. Freeride and powder-specific coats often have relaxed geometry and extra coverage, which helps when you’re dropping into deep lines.

Try a relaxed or regular athletic cut if you plan multiple insulating layers or want freedom for tricks and movement, and choose a tailored profile if you prefer a sleeker fit with minimal bulk. Adjustable waists, cuffs, and helmet-compatible hoods help dial in fit; for example, the Flylow Charlie Coat is noted for a relaxed fit and generous layering room.

Aim for shells in the 20,000–28,000mm waterproof range with breathability above 20,000g/m²/24hr and fully taped seams for storm protection, and favor durable faces like 75-denier polyester with a PFC-free DWR. If you want a proven 3-layer construction, options like the Columbia Platinum Peak II 3L Shell use that build for tougher conditions.
