Gray Truck Bed Mounts

Mid-height racks positioned 12 to 18 inches above the bed rails work best for overlanding and mounting rooftop tents while keeping clearance for parking garages and bridges. Low-profile crossbar systems are lighter and suit daily drivers or trucks with tonneau covers without hurting aerodynamics.

Always verify fit for your specific truck generation and model, since Toyota Tacoma third-generation (2016–2023) and fourth-generation (2024+) beds differ in dimensions. Look for width-adjustable or modular systems so you can match crossbar placement and mounting points to your exact bed.

For rooftop tents and sleeping gear, check both static and dynamic load ratings rather than guessing. Many mid-height racks are rated around 750 pounds static, Billie Bars reach about 1,000 pounds, and the Leitner ACS Forged offers roughly 800 pounds of dynamic capacity.

Aluminum-alloy construction keeps weight down and resists corrosion, which is why models like Billie Bars and the Leitner ACS Forged use aluminum. Mid-range systems often pair powder-coated steel brackets with aluminum crossbars to balance strength and cost.

Many racks include MOLLE attachment panels so you can add MaxTrax holders, jerry can mounts, or Hi-Lift brackets for overlanding and recovery. Modular systems like the Leitner ACS Forged also work with Thule and Rhino-Rack accessories for expanded mounting options.
