Toddler Boys' Black Board Shorts

Hybrids are best for active wave play and sun-exposed days, especially rashguard-lined hybrids that add UPF protection and modesty. Performance boardshorts, like O'Neill Boys' Boardshorts, focus on quick-dry surf performance and often come in the mid-thigh 9–12 inch outseam range for good mobility.

Most toddlers do well with a 9–12 inch outseam—mid-thigh to just above the knee gives freedom to run and splash without excess drag. Match the waist to their pant size and rely on the fixed waist with elastic and an adjustable drawstring for a snug but comfortable fit.

Yes, select models offer UPF 50+ sun protection and are made from quick-dry fabrics that dry in under 30 minutes, which is handy for back-to-back pool and beach play. You can also find eco-minded options like Vissla Youth Surf Trunks that use upcycled coconut-recycled polyester for sun-ready, fast-drying performance.

Adjustable drawstrings paired with elastic in a reinforced two-ply waistband help keep shorts below the waist during jumping and cannonballs while still allowing growth room. Many styles also include flat seams and roomy geometries to prevent chafing during extended beach days.

Look for recycled polyester–elastane blends that offer 4-way stretch—these fabrics are rated for 1,000+ flex cycles and shed water quickly for fast drying. Soft blends that include organic cotton, like Seaesta Surf 2025 models with 52% organic cotton and recycled polyester, give gentle comfort without sacrificing durability.
