Think about your typical rides: long, steep climbs benefit from the wider 10-51t range, whereas flatter trails do well with 10-45t spacing.

Start by checking your frame's bottom bracket type and rear axle spacing, since cranksets and derailleurs must match those fittings. Also confirm whether you need mechanical or electronic Di2-compatible components, because Di2 systems require specific wiring and junction points.

For cross-country and trail riding, 11- or 12-speed drivetrains are common because they balance climbing finesse and chain management.
