Men's Gray Drysuits

Consider the water temperature and how much layering you want: membrane (trilaminate) suits are thin and lightweight and let you add insulation with undergarments, while neoprene drysuits are made from thick crushed neoprene that supplies more built-in warmth. Membrane suits are ideal if you plan to switch layers between temperate and cold dives, whereas neoprene works better for consistently cold or harsh conditions.

Proper fit means seals at the wrists, neck, and ankles must sit snugly, and look for articulated trim and a telescopic torso to improve freedom of movement and comfortable horizontal trim. Membrane suits generally fit a bit looser to accommodate undergarments, while neoprene suits are snugger and need more precise sizing for a streamlined profile.

Membrane suits tend to be easier to clean, dry quickly, and resist abrasion when constructed with fabrics like GORE-TEX Pro or Nylon RipStop, while neoprene is thicker but more prone to punctures and needs gentler handling. Check zipper quality such as YKK Aquaseal and rinse both types after saltwater use to extend service life.

When comparing suits, inspect seal type, zipper quality, boot options, and pee valve availability, and note approximate weight (some lightweight models are around 2.9 pounds) to judge packability and comfort. A robust zipper and reinforced seals at contact points matter for long-term leak resistance and ease of maintenance.

For technical or cold-water diving, consider models built for trim and protection: the Fourth Element Argonaut 3.0 Stealth features an Articulated For Trim design and a telescopic torso for horizontal positioning, while the X-Mission uses lightweight Nylon RipStop and a Cave Cut to reduce abrasion in tight spaces. OS Systems models are also commonly chosen for straightforward, dependable construction depending on your fit and activity needs.
