For bright, sunny days aim for a low VLT—under about 25%—to cut glare, while higher VLT lenses are better for flat light and storms to bring back contrast. Interchangeable sets that include a low‑light and a sun lens, or tints like platinum and Bixbite, make it easy to cover the full range.

Photochromic lenses do adapt tint automatically, but their darkening and clearing action slows in very cold temperatures, so response will be reduced at high alpine temps.
