Having the option of lock
Having the option of lock or open on the nipple, it makes it easy to just squeeze the bottle and drink, no need to pull up or twist like other brands. When I travel to races or rides, I fill up my water bottles and lock them up so no spills if the get squeezed with stuff around and then turn them open for my rides or races

Absolute Fail
I bought this to rejuvenate some very well used bike bottles. Unfortunately, there is no discernable difference between when the valve is open versus closed. Hitting small bumps leaks sports drink all over my frame, as does fitting a full bottle in the bottle cage. Even the very old lid works better. Do not buy if leak resistance is what you are seeking. Previous product was far superior, this is definitely NOT an improvement, nor even a reasonable replacement, in my opinion.
