    Coming through in the clutch.

When winter is showing its true colors and the weather is at its worst, the Burton Men's AK Gore-Tex Clutch Mitten always pulls through. The guaranteed waterproofing of Gore-Tex meets the exceptional breathability of DryRide Softshell fabric to make the Clutch, well, clutch when it comes to intense activity in harsh weather.

Ultimately, a Gore-Tex membrane keeps snow and slush at bay while offering enhanced breathability so your hands don't get soaked with sweat during grueling climbs on your splitboard, especially when paired with the softshell fabric. Speaking of the softshell fabric, it's also incredibly flexible so you can change your split over at the peak, without exposing your bare skin to howling summit winds.

Additionally, low-profile Thermacore insulation adds warmth without making the glove feel bulky or awkward. A brushed microfiber lining wicks heat-robbing moisture away from your hand. Gnar Guard leather at the palm and knuckles resists abrasion from sharp edges and rough terrain, and Screen Grab tech at the index finger and thumb lets you snap pics on your smartphone without taking your glove off.

    • Winter-proof, warm mitten for demanding days in the mountains
    • Gore-Tex membrane provides waterproof, breathable protection
    • Synthetic insulation delivers furnace-like warmth
    • Leather at palm and knuckle is extra-durable
    • Microfiber lining wicks moisture away from your skin
    • Touchscreen-compatibility allows access to your smart phone

    Product image not accurate

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The three star rating is for the inaccurate product image listed for this item. I bought the dusky olive/black AK in a size small. When the order came, the size was correct but the gloves were not the color I ordered. The gloves I received were dusky olive and TAN. Disappointed in the inaccuracy. Not sure if this is a Burton issue since they supply images and item details or if the wrong gloves were picked at the warehouse before shipping to me.

Other than color they fit great, I have narrower hands and slender fingers so there's a little wiggle room, probably enough for a light glove liner. The fleece inside is soft and warm. The finger articulation is good with the index and thumb. I love how they are more flush with the wrist area, so these can sit under a jacket cuff as opposed to a gauntlet style which covers the jacket cuff.

The rating is for mid winter, not ice cold conditions. But I'm looking forward to trying them out on an upcoming trip to the Adirondacks where I'm be checking off some more high peaks. I'll return to edit function and warmth of these gloves after that trip.

Also, I tried to add photos to show fit and color but the "add a photo" interface on the mobile site is not working and never opens a way to add photo. Could be all the Cyber Monday traffic.

Happy right there in the middle

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Sometimes you want the dexterity of gloves with the function of mittens. I am happy with this mitten, as expected from any gore-tex product they keep me dry so I can stay warm, I am really happy with the fit, size large fit my hand really well.

    Soaked through in the PNW

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Not really sure what's going on here bc Burton typically makes solid stuff. My hands were drenched and cold on a warmer day (30 degrees) at Mt Baker. No way I would depend on them in the backcountry.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Sizing is unisex/men. I am a woman with large hands but the medium was too big and had to exchange for a small. The length was fine, but they were too wide and lose. Functionally, though, they seem very nice. Just thought I'd put this out here for other woman trying to figure out the size.
