Boeshield T-9 was developed by the Boeing Company for lubrication and protection of aircraft components. It is a combination of solvents, lubricants, and waxes designed for penetration, moisture displacement, lubrication and protection. Boeshield T-9 dries to a thin waxy film that clings to metal for months. These properties make it ideal for bicycle chains, particularly in wet environments. Boeing also successfully tested T-9 in marine saltwater environments, and it protected against corrosion caused by the salt. If you ride on the beach or near the sea frequently, T-9 is likely the best choice short of manufacturing every piece from titanium. It will also loosen rusty and corroded parts and is safe on paints, plastics, and vinyls. 12oz. aerosol can.

Best light bike lube ever? Maybe.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been using Boeings boeshield lube on the drivetrains of my bikes and my wife's bikes for so long I can't remember how I managed without it before. A few minutes to apply (a little goes a long way), wait an hour or so and just ride. The lube helps displace grit and not pick more up.

Whether you use it meticulously and clean your drivetrain frequently on your fast bike or just keep adding more to the worn drivetrain on your beater errand bike, it works the same. I'm impressed by how long the chain fends off grit and how long drivetrain smoothness is maintained with only periodic application.

Try it if you haven't already. There are good reasons this lube has a strong following in shops and among high mileage riders.

    Just great

Boeing makes some amazing products. While this is advertised mainly as chain lube it also works wonders in other areas. The owner of the bike shop I used to work at fully assembled his enduro bike with t9 and nothing else and didn't have any issues. T9 works wonders!

      Great lube, but prefer non-aerosol

Have been using for the past season. Works very well, applying every 60 miles or so. Let dry one hour and then wipe off. Better than other lubricants at not collecting dirt and grime.

I agree that the liquid can be applied more precisely and thereby get more applications for the unit cost.

The liquid is hard to find. I've asked but nobody seems to know why the liquid isn't available many places.

This lube works fantastic. I slap it on my chain before I go to bed and ride to work the next morning with a silent chain. I use it on my fixed gear bike. My brother uses it on his road bike. Highly recommended!

      Really Great Lubricant

This was recommened to me by my LBS. It's an excellent solution and it keeps my chain looking clean and running great. I've used it two ways:

Lube your chain then clean it immediately with a rag to get a lot of grime out.

Lube your chain the night before and let it dry, then run it through a rag in the morning.

It is also sold in a liquid form that you can drip on your chain and refill when empty. I prefer it over the aerosol, hence 4 stars.

        Decent Lube

This stuff works well but it tends to accumulate on the derailleur cogs. Also you should as with all lubes, put it on the night before so it dries. Otherwise, you will accumulate a lot of unnecessary dirt and grime and probably have grease marks on your legs. Not pretty. Can we last you a long time. Over a year riding 4 days a week cleaning after every ride.
