Mountain days and desert nights.

Whether you're going all day in the mountain pines or waking up early for a long desert trek, the Black Diamond Nitro 26L Backpack is ready for adventure. With a decent-sized volume for day trips, this backpack has enough room for warm layers, rain shells, your peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and even a good book. Its ReActiv suspension system includes shoulder straps and a waist belt that move with you on the trail, while OpenAir technology in the back panel, waist belt, and shoulder straps circulate airflow to keep you cool when the desert heats up. The top-access zippered panel opens wide for easy retrieval of snacks or first aid kit, and there are plenty of gear loops for clipping additional items or attaching trekking poles to the back. While the Nitro 26 doesn't come with a reservoir or rain cover, it does include pockets for both, should the occasion arise.

Awesome pack!

I had the nitro 22 but it was just a little small for shoulder season stuff. I purchased the nitro 26 and it's almost just as good. I have three issues with the pack. On both sizes it would be better balance to have pockets on both sides of the hip belt. Why not? The zippers on those pockets should open back to front. This may seem counter intuitive, but I was doing a bushwhack as I typically do and looked down to see the belt pocket had been pulled open by a branch. This was on the 22 version which seems to have a larger plastic loop on the zipper pull. I looked down and my PLB and knife were just laying out in the open ready to be lost. So two hip pockets would be great, opening back to front. The third thing is the side/water bottle pockets. On the 22 liter version these are made of the same tough material as the main pack. On the 26 liter version they are a mesh type material. I don't like this, it's just not as durable. Either way these are absolutely awesome packs!!! Why, why, why, did they do away with the swing arm????? My buddy tried mine out and ordered one the next day. The swing arm thing is a game changer!!!! Especially on class 3 terrain.

This pack was a gift to me to replace my work backpack. I specifically asked for this one as the volume and reviews seemed like it would be a good fit and I’ve always been a fan of BD’s rock and ice climbing protection. Just to start off, I have only been using this pack for 2 weeks and the waist belt buckle has already broken. This pack really just goes from my car to my work truck and it lives there for the day. So, between these two locations I’ve managed to break that. Secondly, the upper internal pockets utilize the volume of the main compartment. So when putting anything in these pockets it makes packing out the main pocket a bit like a puzzle maneuvering around that nut sack dangling from the top zipper pocket. Third, the outer stuff compartment really can’t hold anything of volume, like not even a fleece jacket when you have the main compartment somewhat packed out. It, like all of the other compartments are essentially useless when utilizing the full volume of the main area. Fourth, while I know the goal of the material is light weight, I find it to be annoying as you need two hands to do anything in it or the whole pack just flops over and on itself. I know I’m not elaborating this well enough, but I would imagine anyone who has put any weight in the key clip pocket would have an idea of what I am saying. I don’t know… I just would expect more I guess. I see a lot of people like it— I just have used much more durable and better thought out packs. I might try returning this if possible, if I can retrieve the order information from my in-laws.

Solid design

This is a great day pack . I use it mostly for skinning up at my local resort , and such . It fits comfortably and plenty of room for an extra layer of clothes , water etc . I have had the larger version for years , that I have used for overnight packing trips and it worked perfect for Kilimanjaro

Happy with my purchase

Fits great, I got my mom the same one for christmas and she loves it. I have yet to use mine but I am excited about it. What we loved was the waist strap (super secure and comfortable) and that there were water bottle pockets on the outside of the pack (weirdly hard to find).

Great design. The pack has enough capacity to bring along what you might need for a day of hiking or skinning up a mountain.

Nice day pack

Light weight day pack. Love it. The blue color is darker than the one in photo. Only one minor thing I don't like - after I put some items in the top front zippered pouch but nothing is in the main compartment, the pouch will sink a bit and the Logo will be covered by the front cover.
