When we are trail running, the Black Diamond Distance 1500 Headlamp is our number one choice for a headlamp. With multiple settings, a comfortable carry, and a super bright light, the Distance 1500 was made to lite up the night as we weave through the trees. There are three brightness modes from 15 to 800 lumens, with the option of cranking up the power to 1500 for a brief 10 seconds through PowerTap technology. The head strap comes with an optional top strap for additional security in technical terrain, and the external Li-ion battery can be changed quickly and easily with one hand.

Powerful, versatile and comfortable.

I have been using this light daily since it arrived. Is is amazing how much light it produces. I love the wide angle of the light so less of the tunnel vision of some other lights. There are many options for setting lighting levels, color of light. The instructions are easy to understand. It will take a bit for me to internalize them, but the major settings I use most of the time are readily available. The headband is very comfortable and fits solidly on my big head. I like the balance of the low-profile battery pack on my back of my head with the low profile lighting on the front. The interchangeable battery packs is a neat feature. I can see they can swap out very easily compared to fumbling with sorting batteries. Like all other headlamps I have used, the small buttons will be a challenge with gloves, but haven't had to try that yet. I think once I have it on, I won't be messing with it, so I expect this to be a minor problem. Overall, a great headlamp that provides amazing performance in a lightweight comfortable package.
