    Details

    For any cold-weather activity.

Simple and versatile, the Black Diamond Men's CoEfficient Fleece Hooded Jacket works as a midlayer or on its own whether you're earning turns in the backcountry, cranking on some ice walls, or headed down south for some cold-weather rock climbing. The CoEfficient's Polartec Power Dry High Efficiency fabric is incredibly breathable to keep you comfortable while you pull in the vertical world or break trail up steep slopes, and the fabric gives the jacket fast dry times to pull moisture off your body before it turns to sweat, leaving you dry and happy wherever you are. The hood slides under a climbing helmet for added warmth on windy belays, and the lined neck with brushed microsuede delivers comfort you'll appreciate on the wall and out in the backcountry.

    • Soft, breathable Polartec Power Dry for high-output days
    • Hood slides under climbing or ski helmets when temperatures drop

    Great mid-layer

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

As a ski patroller, I wear this as my mid layer everyday at work. Paired with a baselayer and shell, it's warm, but breathes well. It's great for riding lifts, but it's too hot for ski touring. It stretches well, and I love the hood and high collar. On blustery days, I often zip the collar all the way up and put the hood on under my hat or helmet. After 80 days of use, it doesn't stink. Or at least not nearly as bad as my boots. My only complaints are the stitching on the cuffs doesn't seem to be the burliest. I already have a hole on the right cuff where the stitching unraveled. Buyer beware, it runs very small. I'm 5'10", 155 lbs and wear a medium in everything, but I am easily a large in this.

    Good Active Climbing Wear

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I gave this as a gift to my hardcore climber buddy. He had previously owned the Compound hoodie and was in need of some new threads. He had the following to say after using it a couple times -

"It works great. Tight fitting, super breathable and stylish. I tend to wear it around town as well. Fits tightly, so I can't fit much more than a t-shirt underneath. It's also not as warm as I would like but if you team it up with a good under layer they get the job done."

He is 5' 9", 150lbs and the medium worked great.

    Great Layer

I own this in both red and green already and decided to get another in blue because the price was right. I love the colors, it looks great, and fits well (thought tightly). I use it as a layer when skiing on colder days and also often wear it more causally to work or out in town.

      Love the blue!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

So I have used this piece from BD for many things. Skiing, ski touring and hiking to name a few. I even eat crab legs with it on. I get a lot of compliments on the blue. It has been a great layering piece that vents well. Any questions feel free to ask!

      Love the blue!

      Couldn't Love It More!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

Let's just get the sizing out of the way. It does fit "true-to-size" but you have to make sure that you understand an athletic fit is meant to fit nice and snug. I bought a Large as I do in all Black Diamond apparel and it fits great.

Its lite, warm, and comfortable, very comfortable in fact. One thing that stands out is that it is very breathable even when you are being active. The hood is great, it form fits around your head to wear under your helmet, but doesn't fit to tight.

Great jacket to wear for any outdoor activity if it is going to be a but brisk. It will not disappoint you at any time.

      My Go-To Climbing Jacket!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Large

I picked up this jacket to stay warm while climbing on chilly days or in our freezing cold gym. It is very form fitting (tighter than other BD products in the same size) which is nice because nothing gets in the way while I am climbing. The hood is also very fitted and fits perfectly under my helmet while I am standing on belay. The main reason I wear this jacket while climbing is because it is super breathable and not too warm for active sports such as climbing. Other than climbing I have used this jacket while skiing and ski touring and have yet to be disappointed! If you are looking for an active and breathable jacket than this is the one for you!

*Size up if you don't want a tight fit.

      Great climbing jacket

      • Size Bought: XL

This jacket is really nice for climbing. It's lightweight and when it gets cold the hoodie part fits perfectly under a helmet. The fleece material does a good job of not getting wet when you are hiking hard and sweating a lot. I use it mostly for backcountry skiing and climbing and it is my go to piece. Get it!

      Lightweight hoodie

While it won't be your one and only fleece jacket you need it does have its uses. The tight fitting hood is nice for days you don't think you will need a hat or you forget it at home. It is light enough to be used as a midlayer. Try to pick it up on sale though, I don' t think it is worth it paying full price.

        Basically a BD R1 hoody

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Large

This is teh same polartec fleece as the Patagonia R1. Basically its the same jacket with a BG logo as far as form and function goes.

Works as a good layer in early fall/late spring or over base layer in winter but under a jacket or mid layer. It's breathable and in turn the wind cuts right through it.

Nice and stretchy for climbing with long arms so they dont fall short when reaching.
