i bought these for her so she could have a more outdoor capable walking shoe. neither of us climb so we've never heard of an approach shoe before. she's been happy with these and where she wears a size 7.5 in sketchers she needed a size 8 in these. i really only left the review to help others with the sizing but you can also be happy knowing she also finds these comfortable.

This shoes are OK. They are soft, so I'm not sure how long they will hold up. They look ok, but nothing exciting. The heel slouches in back ever so slightly. They do seem to have a sticky bottom. I would have returned them, if return shipping was free. They do run small, so I sized up 1/2 size.

When evolv discontinued/changed their classic I tried these for approach shoes. Black diamond told me they would be the faster drying of their approach shoes and they would expand some. They did not expand, take forever to dry out and the grip is AWFUL. They are street shoes and terrible as approach shoes.

a little floppy for my personal taste in approach shoes but very comfortable with a decent grip.

Great shoe, fits true to size

I have had a great time using them to scramble up faces, go to work, and go mountain biking.

From the office to the field

Enjoy the look that can be worn in the office and makes a quick transition to hiking or scrambling in the field. Great all around fit, and seems quite durable (been wearing nearly non-stop for 2 months now).

These shoes are the bomb! They're light yet supportive and extremely comfortable - I may buy another pair for bar hopping!

Versatile shoe

I love this shoe! It's so versatile- I live in a CO mountain town and the Mojave desert and this shoe has been a great everyday shoe or a short hike shoe in both locations. I feel confident leaving the office to climb up a scree hill or walking my dogs over the snow! It's definitely my go-to choice as it's warm enough for below freezing and not too hot for 100+ degrees. The fit was great right out of the box. If I had to complain (and that's a big IF), the ball of my foot by the big toe isn't always a fan of the climbing grip there on a longer hike (4+miles) but that's to be expected- I wouldn't change it because using that to boulder up a peak is extremely useful. The color was a little lighter grey than expected, but that works okay for me since they get sandy from the desert. The sand brushes off with ease, too! I highly recommend these shoes.
