Why We Like The Stratus MIPS Helmet

The videos of an angry peloton delaying race starts in protest of helmet rules seem a little ridiculous now, but we're sure the reaction would have been different had Bell's Stratus MIPS Helmet been around back then. Its lightweight and cooling design borrows inspiration from the top-tier Zephyr and incorporates MIPS technology for an appropriately cloud-like personality that nearly disappears from notice during rides. You'll kit up quickly with easy, multi-directional adjustability and comfort that lets you focus on the snacks in your pocket and the road ahead.

When the weather warms up and caps are collecting dust at home, the durable shell's massive vents and matrix of air channels collaborate to regulate temperature with cooling breezes across your dome. All that airflow won't slow you down though, as the Stratus' streamlined shell shape is well suited for weekend races and long, scenic adventures alike.

May Have Saved My Life!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is a replacement for another Bell Stratus Mips helmet. Five weeks ago I crashed on asphalt at 20 MPH and the helmet did its job. The impact broke my collarbone and fractured multiple ribs along with severe road rash. I can't imagine the injuries I may have sustained if I was not wearing this Bell Mips helmet.

Solid pick

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I went with a medium, but should have sized up. It fits perfect with a bit of adjustability, but I probably won't be able to wear much under it in the cold. But, since this helmet is so open and ventilates extremely well in the heat, I may not wear it in the cold anyway... I wear a size M/L in fitted baseball caps, if that helps you make your choice. I tend to think my head is more on the average side. It's really comfortable and has fantastic ventilation. Really glad I picked this one.

Not much to say on this one. It fits, it is comfortable, it gets the job done. Nothing special about it but hey its a helmet. It has a solid safety rating, it uses recent construction tech, and its comfortable on long rides. I would recommend this to friends without a problem. One comment on size. I have a small head and thus helmets are always a problem when it comes to fit. I would say this runs true to size. What is nice about Bell is that they overlap their sizes well which gives you two options if you are right on the line like me. I went down to the smaller size and open the adjustment almost all the way. I found this more comfortable than going larger and tightening it up most of the way.
