Recently used this rain jacket on a 30 mile hike/backpack camping trip at Red River Gorge, KY. It rained about 70% of the time, with temps barely breaking 50F. This jacket kept all the layers underneath completely dry! It did hold a bit of moisture and felt cold and damp in between rain showers, but we survived an absolute deluge and I couldn't be happier with how this jacket held up. I'm 6' tall, 150lbs and the small was a bit tight on me. Has a very slim fit, would have gone for the medium had they not been sold out. Overall thoroughly impressed with this rain jacket.

This is a pretty nice rain jacket. I wear it when hiking or running and it's a bit wet outside. It's really lightweight and breathable, and i like that it has vents in the underarms to dump heat. It does a good job at repelling moisture, and has a comfortable, true to size fit.

It's a good one if you go to tropical weather. It has some cool internal bags to keep your documents (like a passport) dry. The downside, sizes. Backcountry should use the sizes that generate other companies like The North Face or Patagonia. The cloth is too small IMO. Not the first product when another brand fits perfect but Backcountry is too small.

I was excited about the jacket I purchase. However what I received deflated me quickly. I tried on the jacket, fits great (6’2”, 180lbs and got a Medium) seems like a durable jacket. Put my hands in the pockets and discovered a receipt for fast food, and a balled up wrapper for a frozen burrito. WTH Backcountry...can’t you check these things before you send out a returned jacket to someone. I get it, tags had been removed and rebagged. You have to sell returned merchandise to not take a loss. Yes I got the jacket on sale, but maybe there should be an additional discount for used clothing. Or at least give consumers the option to buy returned item (for discount) or new. The large competition store does a yard sale where this is exactly what happens. Considering returning just based on the surprising garbage that came I. The pockets. I agree with most reviews that the armholes are a bit high, but it’s ok, I bought a size that would fit snug. It is extremely waterproof and lightweight. Haven’t tested the breathable portion yet, but figure it will do fine. I’ve always been happy with Backcountry house brand. Good quality, great fit, great value. I just wish they could shock the retuned items a bit better before repacking and sending out to the consumer

Super impressed by the value of this Rain Jacket. Comparable jackets would cost much more. I'm 6'2 170lbs and the jacket fits well with just enough room to layer underneath. The only problem is it's a bit too short at the waist which is odd because the arms are so long, had I known this I would have ordered an XL. I really like the ability to dump heat with the pit zips. Everything looks to be excellent quality from the YKK zippers to the fully taped seams. The hood has nice adjustment and the weight of the jacket is surprisingly light and it packs down super small so it can be thrown into a pack without the added bulk/weight. Oh yeah, the camo pattern is super sweet. I will definitely be packing this jacket wherever I go. Backcountry has some incredible bargains and I will certainly be browsing often for more products a gear nerd like myself needs with the discounts I crave!

You should order a larger than normal size for this item. I wear an XL from Patagonia, Marmot, and other brands. This XL that I ordered fit much more like a smaller large. I was really bummed out, it was between an XL black and XXL Army Camo and I elected to buy the XL black because that was my size. Upon delivery I went to order the XXL Army Camo and it was gone. I would recommend ordering larger. It looked and felt like an awesome coat.

Great priced rain jacket that is built to keep you nice and dry during some serious rain. The 2.5 layer construction and fully taped seems keep you dryer than the Utah air.

Backcountry did a great job with this jacket. Pit zips, zippered pockets and a nice hood. For the money it is tough to beat. I am 5'11" and 185lbs. Normally I buy jackets in Medium but based on the other reviews I bought a Large and it fits perfect. Not too snug and not too big. Great jacket!

Picked this up because it was on sale, and I needed a new rain jacket. Got lots of compliments on the camo color, the fit is almost perfect for my build, and it works as advertised to keep you dry. The only drawback was the DWR stopped working after the first day it got soaked. I was fishing in a steady, light rain for 4 hours, and the shell soaked through. Was totally dry on the inside, but was expecting a couple of uses before the DWR failed. Aside from the DWR, please add a drawstring on the hood if this product is redesigned. DWR complaints aside, the money I saved can easily be redistributed to nikwax!

A small that actually fits like a small

For me top priority is fit. I'm 5'10" 145 29w x 32ins, many mainline rain jackets in S are very baggy and boxy on me, some of them are even now offering XS which just fit poorly on a semi-athletic build. This jacket actually fits like a S. The hood doesn't come down over the eyes but still provides coverage and stays in place. Armholes are slightly high but i prefer to have the pit vents open which frees up the perfect amount of room.

I'm 5'7 with a 36" chest and 30-31" waist. I couldn't even acceptably zip the small size; the pits were way too tight and the jacket barely fit over my butt. I would highly recommend sizing up especially if you are in between a size. UPDATE: I ordered the medium size and the jacket fits amazing. I love the cut/look (olive camo) of it and have no idea why it is sized the way it is. I highly suggest going up a size. Speaking to usability, the jacket is great for wind and worked like a normal rain jacket for some of the rain I've been in recently. I have not yet had the chance to test it out in a true rain storm, but overall the price for the amount of quality/usability/looks you get is quite a bargain!

Hey Brandon, I'm sorry the jacket was not a great fit for you! The medium should be a better fit - please reach out directly if you would like to set up an exchange order.

This rain jacket is solid. Has a bit of a "form fitting" feel so it hugs the arm pits but does not restrict mobility much. Nice length, too. Wore it with a thick flannel shirt and a baby backpack and enjoyed it.

Not a super fancy jacket but one that has good coverage on the upper body, good ventilation, and sections of velcro that connects another slip of fabric over the zipper make this a very solid jacket for the wet. Plus that camo just looks so good

This is one of the best priced rain jackets with venting out there! It is packed full of nice features including a slightly longer back, large pockets, adjustable hood, vents, and fully sealed seams. It is light enough to bring just in case, offers some serious weather protection with the 2.5 layer membrane, and fits really nice. I am 5'11 and 145 lbs with long arms. The medium fit is great.

I bought this rain jacket for my fiance and he loves it! He normally wears a large which is what I got him in this jacket and it fits great. He hasn't tested it out in heavy rain yet but for the small rain storms he has worn it in it has worked perfectly.

This is a great rain jacket for hiking, biking, or just walking around town on a rainy day. It's very comfortable and packs down pretty small when you need to stow it in your pack. It runs true to size - I am 6' tall, 180 lbs and the Large fits me well. There is a little extra room in case I need to wear 2 layers underneath. Some of the features I like are the large hand pockets, underarm vents to dump heat, a little extra length in the back (1-2"), and a DWR coating to bead off rain. The DWR treatment will eventually wear off but you can reapply it in the washing machine with a Nikwax product. This jacket comes with a lifetime warranty so Backcountry will replace it if any manufacturer defects arise. The Trail Weight Rain Jacket is a great choice for a lightweight windproof and waterproof shell!

A pretty great quality rain jacket. The length of the arms on the Large is great for those of lanky folk who are tired of rolling up sleeves to not look awkward. Doesn't feel like a plastic bag and breathes nicely, so no worry about the plastic sweats in this one. Fits a little snug in the chest. #Tall Person Approved

Hi, I generally wear a large in outdoor brands, I.e. a large in my old Patagonia torentshell. Any suggestions for sizing in this jacket? I’m about 5’9”, 195. 44’ chest and a 34/30 pant size. Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris- Based on your measurement I would recommend going with a size Large in this jacket.

How much does it weigh in size small? Thanks!

Hey Mike! The small weighs 11oz and the medium is 12oz for reference!
