    Evolved for a fourth time.

Hopefully you'll only use the Arva Evo4 Beacon for practice, but its intuitive design makes for fast-and-easy use in emergency situations. The Evo4 is Arva's least expensive beacon with three antennas, and Arva upgraded it with a clearer, digital LCD screen for this season. It can indicate multiple buried victims, and you can mark each victim while you scan each area.

The Evo4 also features group check to make sure it's working with all the other beacons in your party. Arva's clip for safe function turns the Evo4 on when you clip it to the included holster. Arva also included the batteries, and they last 250 hours for long-lasting use.

Staying safe, without breaking the bank

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This is a super affordable as well as functional beacon. I have been very impressed with the design of the beacon, as well as the strap system. From what I have seen, it picks up signals fairly quickly and has pretty good range. This is a great choice for anyone who is looking to save some cash but still get an amazing product.

    Nice Upgrade

A friend got this recently to upgrade his old beacon. The big draw was the marking function - something he never had before. He's hoping he never has to use it, but is thankful for all the upgraded features in case he does.

      Bang for Buck

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been using this beacon for 2 seasons now.

      Bad:
I've found that not having a leash with this is restrictive when trying to find someone buried in the snow. You cant pull the beacon away from your body to efficiently narrow down an area where the person is buried. You have to kind of move your torso from side to side and that's not good. You want to be able to fully extend your arm with the beacon parallel to the ground.

You slide button out to initiate search mode. Then, as you narrow down to where your buddy is buried, you kneel down. Doing so, if not careful, will put your beacon right back into transmit mode, by accidentally turning off search mode with knee/thigh.

When doing tests with my group before going out, I will use search mode for a minute or so. After I put beach back to transmit mode, it tells me repeatedly that I have 20% battery life left. It does this a few times and stops. I could then turn off the beacon and turn back on, it will then tell me 90% (or whatever the true battery life reading is). This is some sort of flaw. Giving false readings after a high battery usage mode.

Safety plug in button could be a bad thing. Plugged my safety button in and had the harness around me but apparently I didnt plug in all the way and it fell out sometime during my tour. I didnt notice until later due to having harness firm to my body from tight backpack usage.

      Good:
I like the concept of the safety ON clip. In that, when you put it on, its ON. Arva just needs to fix some design flaws with this. They need to add some sort of leash option to incorporate it into the harness.

It has great features and strong antennas for the price. I definitely like that. I believe I paid $217 for mine. Not bad.

The best technology for the best price

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This beacon has all the bells and whistles for the best price on the market. Four antennas, instead of the old two antennas beacons. Multiple person check and flagging up to four people ! Very easy to use and the most simple set up I have seen !

      Get with the times!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you are using and old beacon, possibly with 2-Antennas, or does not feature marking you should check out the Evo4 as an upgrade. At this time it is the least expensive beacon that features TRUE multiple victim display and marking for 3+ victims. Lots of bang for your buck... Plus Arva stands behind the product with a 5 year warranty.

      Best beacon I've had

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this beacon for 2 years now and absolutely love it. I upgraded to this from the tracker and so glad I did. So I easy to use I got some for my kids too!
