Flared up Old Injuries

This was my first pair of Altras, after years of recommendations I finally decided to give it a go but was wildly disappointed. After just one normal day, these shoes flared up two old injuries in my feet. This is so rare, I genuinely had forgotten about them until I wore these shoes. On top of that by the end of my day my hips, knees, thighs, and lower back were screaming. Considering how many people have raved about their Altra's I have to believe that it's a problem with this current design. I gave two stars because the return process is easy. I'm willing to try another pair in the future with, hopefully, some major improvements to the design.

So Disappointed in Foot Shap Changes by New Owners!

I have worn Altra shoes almost from the very beginning of the company. The new "standard" foot shape does not work for me. After a lot of trying different models and sizes I settled on the Torin in size wide that I am making due with. The heel slips a bit- because I just need a wider toebox, not a wider shoe. The only high cushioned truly running shoe with the Original fit is a rocker - which I can not use. Is anyone listening to customers response to shoe changes? Will everyone else who is not happy with the new footshapes please write a review? The foot shape is what made Altra what it is, I am beyond disappointed with the changes made by the new owners.

Good, sturdy and lots of toe room

Nice sturdy shoe but tongue is a bit irritating and rubs against ankle. Also got a bluster on heel.Bright color!

Don't last long

I really like the feel of this shoe, and it is one of the only running shoes that is wide enough to not hurt my feet. Unfortunately the quality of the shoe is lacking. After only a few weeks of use, the fabric started ripping. I needed to get them replaced after only using them for a few months. Other running shoes typically last me 6-12 months. For the cost of these shoes, the quality should be much higher.

I would not buy this again.

I have purchased Torins for years. They always fit me well with no break-in time. This year I struggled to get past the colors and ordered a black and a pink pair. The pink was a bit much, so I settled on the black, though I didn't like the look and feeling of my feet in black, especially with the big white soles. I was willing to suck it up, but then, despite the good fit, every so often, there was a sharp edge that would dig into my outer side ankle. The pink ones did the same. So I had to return both. I couldn't wear them so I rate them at 1. Then I ordered Timp 5 in green and tan, which was more of a pink than tan. They were wide through the ball of the foot and the front buckled when I walked and I couldn't get past the icky green or pink color. I ordered the Timp 4 they fit the same way as the 5 with an addition of an eyelet reinforcement rubbing on my left inner instep that is painful. They are in a blue color that I like. I rate them all at 1. So far I have kept them. Now I am past the return date and hoping I can figure out how to deal with the eyelet rubbing, toe buckling, and wideness, or call Altra and beg to return them. Then I would have no more high cushion zero drop shoes to try. Altra, please do better!

A little tight and a little stiff, but overall good.

Only 7 miles on these shoes but I think they will be decent. The last Torin I had was way more squishy, but I think these will break in and be a little softer. I do like the firmer foam, but the upper is also much more firm than any other Altra I have had. I did have to return my first pair and order a size up, because they were too narrow and too tight in the toe. I even made the misrake of running a couple miles in them to see if they would stretch at all and they did NOT. I've worn an 8 in every other Altra I have had, which is getting up there towards maybe 12-15 pairs. I do wish that Altra would stop reinventing their shoes so quickly, maybe give each model more than a year before a redesigned version. It's nice to get attached to a shoe and be able to get a few pairs before having to switch it up again. So...verdict is still out on the new Torin, but I do think that even if these don't suit me for running, they will still be a great walking shoe.

Concerning quality

I'm really disappointed in this shoe. I've loved my lone peaks so when it was time for new daily walking shoes I bought these. They are extremely comfortable (hence the two stars), but the quality is just bad. I've had them since January and use them to do about an hour of walking per day (about 3 miles a day). Within the past two and a half months the shoes already have 3 rips along the fabric. This is not normal wear and tear and not something I've experienced with running shoes from the other brands I've worn (hoka, on cloud, brooks). I also find it strange since my lone peaks have not done the same. I don't wear them as often but I've clocked many more miles on them. I have read other reviews stating the same, but I hoped they were just fluke incidents.

Haven't liked them since I got them

First off I got a wide which is why the width is okay. If I'd gotten standard size it wouldn't have worked. Second, they're an okay shoe but they aren't as good as the Torin 5. The thing that bothers me the most is that the tongue of the shoe bunches up which both looks stupid and feels annoying. They could have made them with a stiffer but still soft design. Also the brands appliqué started coming off within the first two months. I've wanted zero drop shoes but I don't know about these anymore. There are just too many issues for me to feel good them. I also tried to attach a photo but the website wouldn't load it.

Painful in the ankle

Most pain my foot has ever felt from a sneaker. My ankle did not line up with the ankle area of the shoe and this stiff plate part of the shoe jabbed into my ankle to the point I couldn't weight bear in them. This wasn't a case of breaking a sneaker in (not that one should have to). Disappointing as in everything else about the sneaker felt great. The stiff ankle part needs to go.
