Why We Like The Torin 5 Running Shoe
For a trainer that is just as performance-focused as we are, we lace up the Torin 5 Running Shoe to crush every training run. The enhanced foam delivers a little extra bounce on every toe-off and gives a soft landing on every strike, sending us into faster times and longer distances. As we push our tired legs to pick up speed in the final stretch, the increased collar padding keeps our heel locked in for smooth tracking and a strong finish.

Fell apart in under a year
First pair of altras and I love how comfortable they are with my wider feet. However, I'm about a year in and the treads are falling off. Wild given I've only put about 75 or so miles on them.

this shoe has fallen apart well both the upper and sole
Ive had these for two years. I don't run much anymore and use these only for running. I'm comparing them with 3-4 other altar running shoes and 3 other trail runners over the last 5-6 years

What happened?
My first pair of Altras was the Torin 2.5 and if I could go back in time and buy 100 of them, I would. The 2.5 was a dream - so comfortable, fit so well. I'd been having terrible metatarsal issues and the Torin 2.5 got me running again as well as walking without limping. Over the years, the quality of the Torin has gone downhill. The 5 is the last I bought and, even having read the reviews, I'm surprised by how terrible they actually are. The uppers are beyond uncomfortable, the tongue is so bad it's hilarious, and the fit is so much tighter. I've found a different shoe company that makes zero drops that are so much more comfortable than new Altras. I'll try on newer versions of the Torin at my local running store, but unless Altra makes a serious shift back to their previous glory, I probably won't be buying any anymore. It's just a shame.

Would not buy again
The tongue is extremely sharp and cut into my ankles on the first wear. Please modify the next upgrade. Otherwise, I love Altra shoes!

The Most Comfortable Shoe I have every worn
This is easily the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I did feel the tongue was a little stiff at first, but I haven't had any of the issues that I have seen in the other reviews. I bought these shoes in June, and I have been wearing them every day, and they are going strong. I work 12 hour shifts at work where I am running stock all day, and I impressed with the durability. I actually bought another pair as back up for when these wear out. The only thing is I dislike the color. Why on earth can't Altra make a nice black shoe for ladies who don't want pastels or bright colors. They must think all ladies love teal or various shades thereof. Note: not all women like teal or rasberry or pastel shades.

Not this style
Torin has a stiff sharp tongue and it scrapes my ankle.... Suggestions how to deal with this problem? Even socks don't stop the issue.... What other styles do you have that DON'T have this sharp and long tongue? Pictures don't give this information. And shoe laces are too short as well. I've just signed up for your emails. Hopefully some information about this issue could be addressed in your communications.

Wouldn't recommend
This was my 3rd pair of Altra Torins, I went through two pairs of Torin 4 and wore them out over time so decided to go with the Torin 5s. The 4's had a wider toe box and overall a great running shoe with lots of support and space. The 5's changed alot, more narrow, the tongue is absolutely terrible since it would dig into your foot. I ended up cutting the tongue to try to help, still bad. Laces are oddly short as well. Overall not nearly as comfortable as Torins use to be, dissapointed.

I would not buy this shoe again.
I love this shoe. I have been buying Altra's for years, but I am allergic to the material used in the tongue of the shoe.

RAZOR SHARP TOP OF THE TONGUE--SLICING INTO FRONT ANKLE AREA
Wearing for the first day today to my hospital job. Comfortable toe box, adequate cushioning, nice sole ...however, the top edge of the tongue is PAINFULLY SHARP! Please tell me there is a fix!

Tongue of shoe is to thin and stiff you have to wear thick socks with them. Bottom of shoe has fallen apart was disappointed with quality. Tread coming off
