Ventrix Insulated Hooded Jacket
When you're going to the top of a mountain and then back down again in an unreasonably short period of time, bring along The North Face Men's Ventrix Hooded Insulated Jacket to handle the rapid change in weather you're sure to experience. Crafted from an ultra durable, stretchy nylon fabric, this tech hoodie resists rough rock surfaces and snagging branches, while its DWR-coating helps shed moisture if you get caught in an unexpected, passing rain storm. Lightweight yet toasty Ventrix synthetic insulation keeps your body warm in dropping temps, while the breathable construction allows excess heat to escape in a pinch. An adjustable hem helps customize your protection against the elements, and the pre-tensioned hood binding and elastic cuffs cinch snugly to add comfort on blustery days.

How has this flown under the radar?
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: XXL - As Gift
- Height: 6'2"
- Weight: 175lbs
I was given this jacket as a gift and couldn't be more stoked on it. I was given a XXL but I think I could of gone with an XL and it would of been perfect (normally a Large in North Face but this one runs a bit small).
Fit: This jacket fits a bit small compared to most NF jackets but if you size up you don't have to worry about the waist size because there is a cinch that lets you customize exactly how tight you want the waist. With a stretchier hood it will fit over all your hats and beanies but likely not over a helmet.
Comfort: This jacket is soooooo comfy. Once you wash (and tumble dry) the material looses it's grit and is such a pleasure to wear. I have the Arc'Teryx Proton and the two jackets feel pretty much the same. Temperature wise this jacket will do amazing in almost all temps by itself up to maybe 15 degrees before I would consider throwing a puffy over top. It is so breathable that I don't find myself needing to shed it as I walk into the grocery store or even when I walk into a house.
Durability: I would ultimately avoid sharp objects with this jacket as it is not a shell or made to be resistant to pointy things. I have seen no traces of any type of deterioration over the time I have owned this jacket (4ish months of constant wear). For what this jacket is I would say it is extremely durable.
Functionality: Function wise this jacket is amazing. Keeping me warm up to 10 degree weather by itself or as the perfect mid layer under my bibs. the breath-ability of the Ventrix really makes it stand out. This will hold up in the snow as well because of the DWR coating but I wouldn't suggest it for a downpour. It's not super pack-able like a down but on ski tours I rarely find myself needing to take it off at all like I would a puffy.
Overall: I have no idea how this jacket has flown under the radar. It is extremely versatile, breathable, and comfortable. I would recommend this jacket to any and all!
