Yours is the way of the road.
Rugged, winding mountain roads, remote campsites, and the adventure of accessing these places is what draws you to the mountains and deserts you like to call your playground. Being able to convert your rig into a shelter is an essential component of any serious adventure rig, and the Tepui Ayer Tent 4-Season 2-Person Sky Tent is definitely your best option for stepping up your base camp setup. Smaller than the Kukenam, the Ayer is the ideal choice for smaller SUVs and wagons thanks to its compact size and relatively light weight.
The Ayer includes universal mounting brackets, allowing it to mount to just about any roof rack or after-market roof bars. The tent sits on an a welded aluminum frame that's insulated and capped with an aluminum sheet that can be unfolded to deploy the tent. Rugged fabrics repel whipping winds, driving rain, and piling snow. Inside the tent is a high-density foam mattress to give the comfort of sleeping at home, and the addition of a built-in screened panel along the roof gives you the option to enjoy clear views of the night sky. Once set up, the included telescoping ladder makes getting out easy, and the attached PVC travel cover protects the entire tent once you're back on the road. Be sure to watch the setup and installation videos on Tepui's website for detailed instructions.

The perfect mobile home for the nomad
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is the perfect set up for anyone adventure traveling across the country or world. Pull over anywhere and pop it up, take a nap, enjoy a view, or spend the night. It's crazy easy to use, and keeps you safe from all elements. Rain, wind, sandstorm, snow, and heat. This thing has kept me safe and comfortable for over 80 nights already. Brackets that hold it to the roof rack never had to be tightened or adjusted on any of the crazy dirt roads Southern Utah has to offer, so don't worry about that thing flying off the roof. Just make sure you have durable roof racks that can hold up the weight of the tent. GET ONE!
Comfort, Quality and Function!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
After a couple years of debating about picking one of these up we finally went for it and could not be happier. Tepui strives to be the best car top tent out there and i truly believe they succeed with the 4 season Ayer Sky. The tent does a great job of moisture control and heat retention and even with temps dipping to the high teens in the desert we slept comfortably through the night. There really is something about climbing up a ladder to sleep on top of you car that brings some nostalgic childhood memories of tree houses and simpler times. the setup and breakdown like any tent take a little practice, but a few openings and closings are all you need to get comfortable with it. If you are in the market for a car top tent do yourself a favor and get a Tepui!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This tepui tent is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever slept in camping, it is super easy to fold up only takes about 10 minutes, it is super durable and waterproof, it comes with a waterproof cover and a super snazzy aluminum latter. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get out an adventure but at the same time wants to sleep comfortably.
Warm Winter Wonderland!
The Tepui takes three minutes to set up, is extremely spacious, and is more comfortable than my bedrooms memory foam mattress. From snow to sunshine, you can rest assured that you will sleep comfortably through the night. Securing the Tepui to my Subaru Outback's factory installed crossbars is somewhat time consuming since there is low clearance between the base of the bars and the roof, but if you pick up wingnuts the set up gets much easier and time efficient. A Tepui is quite the investment, but not for everyone. If you are wondering if this roof tent is for you, or have any questions regarding it, give me a call at 801-204-4679.
Then what is this on the impreza with stock Subaru bars...?
I'm wondering if this would fit on a 2013 Wrx with the factory Subaru rack?
No, it will not. These tents are designed to fit SUVs.
