Thin shell jacket
- Size Bought:
- M
- Height:
- 5' 6"
- Weight:

The size was fine for me, but the jacket arrived with a defective zipper, so I had to return. Also, the jacket is very thin, so would not recommend for skiing in New England.

Ignore Size Chart - Massively Oversized
- Size Bought:
- L
- Height:
- 5' 8"
- Weight:
- 150
These honestly appear to be cut like Men's sizes. I followed the chart and according to it, I should have been a large. For reference I'm 5'8" / 150 lbs and a size 10 (36 B/C). I have fairly long arms and legs and the arms on this went about 5-6 inches too long. I also absolutely SWAM in this thing, even taking layering into consideration. Still, I thought it looked decent for the $67 deal I received. I called and arranged the exchange. Well, they screwed that up and sent yet another Large when I had asked for a Medium (knowing that too, was gonna be oversized). After reading the other reviews and having inspected the garment before sending back, I agree with those reviewers who said that it was not waterproof or even water resistant. It's more like a soft cotton/twill shell. I can't speak to whether the seams were sealed as they claim, but I can say with certainty there was nothing water resistant to the fabric itself. After reading about zipper issues and everything else, I went ahead and arranged for yet another return. Both times i had to drive these packages to the nearest FedEx box, which was a hassle. I asked for them to pick it up from my house on the second merry-go-round and was told they could not offer that. I told them, "I should've guessed that would be the case" as this is Steep and Cheap.

zipper broke
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I really liked this jacket in terms of the style and the quality of the material of the jacket, but the zipper was plastic and it broke after 6 uses.

Spring conditions lightweight
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- L
- Height:
- 5' 5"
- Weight:
- 170
I bought this deeply discounted and for the price I paid think it’s great, however as one reviewer said it is more like a lightweight rain jacket HOWEVER it is not at all water proof or even resistant! I wore it to shovel on a snowy day and I was soaked through. It is cute and like the oversized fit but it’s best worn on a blue bird day or spring conditions. The pockets are however ample so I kept it and do enjoy it but set your expectations, this is not a Dec-Feb Jacket.

Just what I needed
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- Small
- Height:
- 5' 3"
- Weight:
- 130
Layered with a good base and mid layer, it keeps you warm and dry and looks good, too. Runs a little large so I ended up returning my medium for a small. Careful with the zipper, as it can get stuck, but great shell for the price!

I like it!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- M

It’s maybe not the best jacket ever but for 69 bucks it was great. I was looking for a shell to go over my puff layer and wool layer. And this great. The material feels great on my skin. A lot of the other reviews are saying it’s not a good winter coat, that it’s just a shell. But it’s advertised as a shell. So that’s what it is. If it ends up falling apart this ski season I’ll come back and change my review but so far this a lot better than my previous jacket.

Don't Purchase
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- small

I purchased to try this on. Thought it might be a screaming deal - totally wrong. Not a ski coat, a very thin overly sized shell. I ordered a small because I am 5'2 and 120lbs - it fit like a large - like a dress. Photo also does not accurately depict the color shades. Thought it would be more yellow it's pale.

Poor quality, a disgrace
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
This jacket is one of the most poorly-made articles of clothing I have ever purchased. This feels like an obvious cash-grab by listing the product at $219 and deeply discounting it. The seams certainly are not sealed, and it looks like water and wind would have no problem getting through them. If you want to market this as a budget soft-shell type jacket, fine. But this is NOT a ski/snowboard jacket, unless one is skiing indoors. I was very excited to buy this as a gift, but now cannot wait for my return to process. If Backcountry cares for quality control, they should take this product down.

Not a winter coat
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- Medium
- Height:
- 5' 2"
- Weight:
- 150
This isn’t really a winter coat it’s more like a rain jacket. I’m 5’2” and purchased a Medium - it came down to above my knees and the sleeves went to my fingertips. Every time I bent over the bottom zipper would start to unzip. It’s good looking jacket but unless you’re built like model and are trying to wear a few more layers underneath for warmth I would not recommend.
