    Great midlayer for skiing!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I got this for a steal on sale. I am tempted to buy 3 or 4 more at this price to give as gifts - you would never know how inexpensive this jacket is from looking at it! 5 stars for the price for sure. I would probably give it 5 stars up to say half off. For the full retail price of $120 I would probably be a bit underwhelmed.

Warmth + Breathability: I wore this on a recent spring ski day at Breckenridge under a shell and couldn't have been happier with this jacket. Conditions ranged from sunny and warm to heavy blowing snow throughout the day. The jacket was perfectly warm in classic Breck freezing wind and snow. Once the sun came out the jacket was a little warm but nicely breathable and I did not find myself uncomfortably sweaty as sometime happens with a fleece type midlayer.

It is also great to throw over a t shirt to walk the dog in cooler Colorado spring evenings, perfectly fine down to mid 30s.

One important note on fit: the collar comes up fairly high if you zip it all the way up. This works nicely with the hood to create a very snug seal around your face. With the hood off however the collar might feel awkwardly high. You will need to either get used to zipping it up and then having some bunching under your chin (this is what I did skiing) or not zipping all the way but the material does not really fold over like a fleece or hoodie would so the unzipped top corners tend to flop into your chin/face a bit. Fully zipped with the hood off the hood tends to bunch in the back on your upper neck or lower skull. I actually found this a great feature under my ski jacket! The bunching is all within the collar of my shell and added a nice layer of extra padding and warmth in the back and insulated nicely against the breeze.

    Fit: Large, 6'1

    Great midlayer for skiing!

    Ok puffy for the price

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Needed a puffy but didn't want to drop $200 on a Patagonia. While the price difference will probably get you a better piece of gear, this jacket isn't that bad. "Packable" is used a bit loosely; you certainly can but it will not pack as small as a down. It's reasonably warm and so far hasn't ripped. Overall, for $50ish bucks it is a pretty decent puffy.

    doesn't fit broad shoulders

I order the jacket it didn't fit. Only in shoulders and arms. I have wide shoulders and large arms so there wasn't much give when making athletic move like reaching ect. The material is definitely heavier than my prima loft jacket but it appears to be warm. The hood fits well and the pockets have nice fleece lining. For full price of 120 I don't think it stand up to competition, but for 50 dollar range sell price it's a great deal.

      Unanswered Question

How much does this jacket weigh in Large? Does it come with a stuff sack? How small does it pack down to?
