Why We Like The GX XG-1150 11-Speed Cassette
SRAM constructed its GX XG-1150 11-speed Cassette with the wide, 10-42t gear range, which is one of the widest out of any of its competitors — ensuring you can pedal up, and down, just about anything. In fact, the XG-1150 uses the same gear range as SRAM's higher-end offerings and uses a similar open, debris-clearing design for reliability in wet, muddy conditions. Though it closely resembles SRAM's premium X1 cassette, the XG-1150 costs less than half of its look-alike sibling due to its chromoly steel construction, and it's held together solidly using SRAM's Full Pin system: 11 cogs attached to one another with 123 stainless steel pins.

Two more teeth make a big difference!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- N/A
I haven’t found myself wishing I had a lower gear yet, even after a big backcountry ride around Reddish Knob in the George Washington National Forest, on the VA/WV border. Being able to replace the original 10-50t GX Eagle cassette on my 2018 Santa Cruz Blur with this open box special 10-52t for just over $100 was a huge relief. With a big family and a fleet of bikes to keep maintained, the deals I can get on Backcountry are really helpful.

Good, but incorrect weight
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This will be my second time using one of these cassettes. The old one lasted a good long, time so that is a huge plus, but the listed weight of 246g is waaaay off. I weighed it at home and it comes in at 401g. I’d probably buy it again for the longevity and price, but don’t think it’s a featherweight component.
